Emo currently sells Black End Trim Pieces for $20/pr in sizes 4RU and 2RU. Should they also offer them in sizes 3RU and 1RU? Those would be for those who want their new XMC-1 and XDA-1/XDA-2 components to match their existing components that they have already bought trim pieces in black or re-painted them in black. The purpose of this thread is not to get your opinion on whether you like the appearance of the silver trim pieces, the black trim pieces or no trim pieces with or with out the bolts. That has already been covered in posts many times. Some folks who like the black trim pieces notice that Emo has yet to offer them in 3RU and 1RU. We want Emo to have all 4 sizes of trim pieces for sale for us who want all of our Emo equipment to match. We are not asking Emo to offer the components with black trim installed, only to offer the black trim as an available accessory. There is already a thread on whether the black trim should be standard, this thread is only about the trim being offered aftermarket by Emo as the other two sizes are. If you agree please post in this thread. Current Sizes4RU: Black Trim for XPA-1, XPA-2, XPA-3, XPA-5, UPA-5, and UPA-7. 2RU: Black Trim for UPA-1, UPA-2, UMC-1, ERC-2, and USP-1. Sold in pairs, black hardware included. Requested Sizes3RU: Black Trim for XMC-1, (maybe others?) 1RU: Black Trim for XDA-1 and XDA-2 1.5RU: Black Trim for UMC-200 Geebo has also recommended Rack Ears in missing sizes. You should make this a poll...
I vote for adding 1U and 3U black trim pieces. I will "require" them when I upgrade to the XMC-1 in the future.

If they offer 2RU and 4RU trim, then they should offer 1RU and 3RU as well so that owners can match all their Emo gear. I would also add that I would like to see 1RU and 3RU rack ears.
And lets not forget the 1.5RU of the UMC-200.

Thanks George, I think there might be another 1/2 RU component, maybe the mini amp. I'll add other sizes above as folks can confirm.

Yes! I would love to have black trim on my mini-X. It's the only piece of Emo gear in my house that doesn't have it. It feels like the ugly duckling of the group lol.
What size is the mini anyway? Same as the UMC-200? Or smaller? It seems like it might be in between the ERC and XDA right?

Many people that bought black trim pieces for their amps would like to have all their equipment match, it only makes sense that Emotiva offer black trim to fit each size. While I only own my XPA-2 and XPA-5 they both have black trim if I was to ever add another Emotiva piece I would want it to have black trim as well. Personally for me painting would not be an option I like my gear to have a more professional anodized finish, just a personal preference. If I was to add another component and Emotiva still was not offering black trim in the size I needed I would probably have my trim anodized but I would prefer just buying an already finished trim piece and still having the original as well. Big Dan, if you offered black trim in 3 RU to fit the XSP-1 it would definitely be another twist in my arm. |

Here's a thought: Make silver and black trim optional when ordering from Emo, that way everyone is happy. Should Emo Sell Black Trim in 3RU & 1RU Sizes?They obviously should,they have them for the other components already.  lol |

Most other manufacturers give you a choice of black or silver. I'm in the traditional Black camp, which will match my other gear

My XSP-1 is begging for these to match my XPA-1s. If not, I'll take the stock trim off and spray paint it if I can't find a cheap anodizing service.

Black trim for the 1RU & 3RU would be a nice option, though I'm still partial to the silver trim. Granted I'm making a move to the Reference series components so not really an issue here.  |
