I called to order a UPA-7 today and I was told that not only are they sold out, but they are now discontinued!!! I'm very suprised to hear this. I was told by the girl that there would be a new product line out in the spring to summer, and that I could still order the XPA series...but the UPA series was DONE. DAMN!!!

Hard time believing they discontinued that amp after it got a few good "pro" reviews and ads recently. Also be aware that Emo has B stock kicking around. They normally won't tell you unless you specifically ask. Good way to save some extra loot. Still get a full 5 year warranty and a product that looks and works as brand new. And you can use your Emobucks on them Which I think expire soon.

well they didnt' say anything about it. I called today to finalize my order as they told me the sale was over on the 31st. then the girl on teh phone tells me they are sold out, not goign to be carried anymore, are goign to be replaced by new product in the new year, and never offered me any "b stock" as I would have ordered that for sure. I'm in need of a UPA-7 badly after sellign my LPA-1...

If this proves to be true, it's beyond strange.

I can see this if the rising cost to Emotiva to build a UPA is getting too close to a XPA Amp.

Uh, the costs associated with building the XPA amps would be rising too, no? At any rate Emotiva announced across the board price increases for the new year so this doesn't seem to be a reason to discontinue a model or series, especially with absolutely no warning whatsoever to the customer base.

Perhaps we'll be seeing a UPA-7a then?

Or maybe the entire UPA series might be phased out as the XPR series comes in??? Remember that the XPR-7 is due out soon.
BTW, we haven't heard anything on the XPR-5/7 lately. Weren't they supposed to be out before Christmas?

Or maybe with the acquisition of Sherbourn, they will be copying one of their amps for a 7 channel amp.

exactly. the sherbourn 7 channel is 150 watts per channel. Perhaps that'll be the next lower than XPA line.

Psst, looking for a UPA-7, UPA-5, and maybe a UPA-1 ... I have it in the van parked by the alley. ;D
How long did they have this series? Typical life cycle maybe.

Maybe someone should call up Emotiva or PM Lonnie and inquire on what the deal is.

Didn't you all read the formal announcement on the mothership site? Emo does keep us fully informed on new and discontinued products. Haven't you seen the XMC-1 pictures and specs posted right after the commitment made in the October webcast? The updates on the new f/w for the UMC-1 to be ready "...in a few days"? I can't believe people still fall for the promises. Just be thankful that the products ship when you pay for them and that the prices are affordable for most people. I am glad I used my Emo bucks to get a UPA-5 for an unbelievable price a couple of weeks ago.

You would think they would let there customers know if something was about to be discontinued.
But to be fair other companies do this all the time without warning.
But then again they have strange ways of communicating things. Like its looking good and will be released in a few days and then weeks go by and all of us are left wondering ? Firmware that is !
I am sure that if they did discontinue them they will have something out sometime next year to replace it.

I spoke to Cathy again today, and she said not only is the UPA series discontinued (they have one more shipment coming in Feb) but the XPA is also done. Seems very strange to me considering she also said the replacment will not be out by the spring...but sometime closer to summer.
I was told that a 300wpc x 7 amp is coming out....but that it will be around the $2000.00 mark...

This should make the next webcast interesting...hopefully full of news on a new line of amps, the XSP and XMC, and on what the Sherbourn deal means. So Big Dan...when's the next webcast? Can't wait!
