XPA1-L never has been on sale as it hasn't worked properly yet from the start. Time will tell as they should start shipping for the third time for some of us and hopefully it will be great. I am confident that Emotiva took care of it this time! 3rd times the charm I'm hoping! In the meantime i picked up a pair of XPA-1's and i love them! Can't imagine the 1l's sounding even better! xpa 1 l is on sale right now but its a secret shhhh! cheers Bob..the only good "Bug" is a dead bug. ;D

Have the new XPA-1L specs been updated yet?

^ The time stamp on the AP reports indicates they have not yet been updated. I also took a gander at the website page specs and nothing jumped out at me. I suspect Lonnie may jump in here and let us know what spec improved or tell us the new reports are uploaded. The old reports are saved to my computer so I can do a comparison without relying on memory.
My fingers are crossed that this amp is finally ready for prime time. I'm still as excited as the first day I heard about it. ;D

OK, I'd like to pick up a pair of these and then use three marantz ma 500s for the center and the rears. Can pick those up for $100 apiece. Any problems or issues with that setup?

I would think you might have some issues with using a totally different amp for the center than the left and right.

Got the updated amps the other day. No noise issues, and in class A mode, they run nice and HOT !
Too busy to do any listening at any lengths but will give impressions soon,

Ok, this is really preliminary..
Only listened to a few familiar discs, but I can say they sound more open, detailed and powerful compared to my xpa 3. I'll know more once I play my reference CDs in the coming days.

Just a quick update. The original delivery date was Monday, so I requested a "Hold at FedEx Location" since I wasn't going to be around to sign for it. Well, I got a call from FedEx on Saturday afternoon saying my amp was available for pickup! Sure enough, the tracking info said the package had been tendered to my selected FedEx location. Sweet! I stopped by to pick it up, dropped it off at home, and then went back to work. The only thing I've done tonight, err, this morning is connect my "test speaker" and turn it on. No buzz at startup! So far this amp seems to be working properly. ;D Oh, by the way...Emotiva included a black baseball cap with the amplifier. I'll take a pic of it later. One thing is for sure, Emotiva has treated their 1L customers extremely well through all of this. My respect for Dan and Emotiva has increased exponentially. Outstanding service! You can bet I will continue to brag on them for a long time to come. Anxious to hear some reviews! What's your monday and Tuesday look like Dark ranger? Monday and Tuesday are hit and miss, but since I've got the amp early, I'm going to try to spend Sunday afternoon checking things out. I have to work for a few hours on Sunday evening, but will have some play time after that. Got the updated amps the other day. No noise issues, and in class A mode, they run nice and HOT ! Wow, you got 'em quick! Glad to see they're working properly for you.

OK so at least two people have had these amps since yesterday, but no real reviews. What have you been doing? SLEEPING?
Priorities gentlemen, priorities. We can sleep after we've played with the amps a day or two OK?

Ok Dark ranger, it is 8 AM Sunday morning which means that you should have been awake at least 8 hours by now which gives you no excuse for a fully detailed review! ;D But seriously what's the hold up son? We are eager to hear!

Actually.... it just may be a good idea for you to put away any testing equipment for poor Emotiva's sake. ;D

Really? Not even a cursory 1 paragraph played this played that? Jeez, you'd think these things had been out for 6 months or something.

well, the amps sound different than other Emotiva amps I've heard. Compared to the XPA-3 that I own, it is more detailed, more effortless in power delivery, nuances are more prominent, so in that regard it is in a different league that the XPA-3.
I had experience with a few XPA-2's in the past and while the punch of the XPA-2 was prominent through my Magnepan 1.7's, the XPA1L's match the power but offer more finesse and articulation. They just seem to sound more coherent. These are still preliminary results mind you. In the next few days, I will try to capture the differences between Class A mode and AB.
All the listening so far was done in Class A/B mode because the Maggies love power so the Class A mode will be interesting .
