I think that the important phrase is: "As long as they meet THE FAIRLY EXACTING SPECIFICATIONS" Nevertheless, unless there is evidence to the contrary, everyone should be able to express their opinions, no matter how controversial or incredible, without being subject to personal attacks. As long as subjective opinions do not violate scientific principles, let it be spoken openly and freely. I am going to buy an Oppo 93 or 95 because I believe that they are the best BRP ever. But, if someone says that they believe that the competing Panasonic, Sony, LG or Samsung sounds better to them, let them be. What the hell do I care. I believe that I know better. I grin and bear it, or I just nod & smile.

KSE, Bruce and Bill,

I don't expect everyone to like all the same gear that I do. Never have and when I make recommendations I usually give a thorough explanation of what I like about one component versus another. I nearly always suggest the person audition competing products and select the one they like better. I am not doing any arm twisting and I am upfront about my finding Emotiva's products hard to beat when compared with comparably priced products.

I don't profess that Emotiva makes the #1 product in any class. I simply explain why I think they have very good products in many different categories. I do NOT blindly say I like it because emotiva makes it. I buy the product and test it against competitor's products and I discuss why I felt the Emo gear was an exceptional product. Anyone who bothers to follow my postings will know that I often recommend products other than Emotiva and I suggest they bring in competing products to make a personal choice. Usually, I recommend they compare a specific Emo product against some other product they have an interest in. Why? Because I know the Emo product well and it is a good basis to make a comparison against.

When someone asks the forum members for help or for recommendations I try to find out what their goals are, what their current equipment is, detailed info about their listening rooms and listening habits. After digesting their responses I offer opinions based on my personal experiences over the 47 years I have been active in this hobby. I make an attempt to help them achieve their goals.

My goal is to help them find a solution to a problem they have. I do NOT make a penny if they buy Emotiva's gear and my only reason for suggesting Emo's gear is that it is well made, has above average performance, and is strongly supported by the company. I have had very good experiences with everything I have purchased from Emotiva; and, if I have an issue they quickly respond while going above and beyond to keep me happy with my purchase.

I have never questioned anyone about their equipment preferences, even if I disagree with their assessment about the sound quality of their equipment choices. Everyone has an opinion and I respect their right to have that opinion.

It's never a good idea to be obsessed with matching gear. It's better to just find the best gear out there...Within your budget.

I agree for the most part, but sometimes aesthetics matter to those purchasing.

If the price is similar, why not?

If a piece of gear is too ugly, it won't sell regardless of how it sounds.
