It's hard to go wrong buying an AV7005. When you say it sounds better than your AVM-30, are you referring to HT only or also to 2-channel music?

Movies and concert Blu-Rays in the HD Codecs. I haven't had any time to listen to two channel yet so I can't expound on that.

But everyone else and I can hear a difference that Audessy made with my system.

I would have liked to stay with Anthem, but they are out of my price range right now and I had to take money for my new fence to pay for the Marantz

I also agree with Bill. I was a huge Marantz fan (had the MM9000 with an SR5600, then an SR8001). I was planning on buying the AV7005 to replace my UMC-1 and keep my Emotiva amps for all of the channels. I did months of research and was most interested in the XT32 calibration. From every review I read, the power of XT32 was apparently very noticeable.

Because of this, I ultimately decided to go for the Denon 4311 and have no regrets. I still use my UPA-1s for front left and right duty, but now the centers and rears are powered by the Denon's internal amps. The sound is absolutely phenomenal and I completely agree that XT32 has done wonders for my sub integration with the Studio 100s. I always had a difficult time blending with the UMC-1 and SR8001, but none whatsoever with the Denon.

I know you were intent on the AV7005, but I'm just offering my experience in the matter. As I mentioned before, having a receiver has some advantages. The extra powered channels can be used for second or third zones, or you may not even need the UPA-7 at this point. For me, taking out the UPA-1 center and replacing it with the Denon's amp has made no difference whatsoever. The Denon has plenty of power for dialog, but I have the UPAs for music just in case. I've yet to hook the speakers directly up to the unit, but I can't imagine it sounding too shabby.
