Kind of wondering what the feature set of the top end unit is going to be or even if they have an idea of where they are going with it. Doesn't sound like they have much planned yet. Will it be 9.1 or 12.4 (max that blu-ray supports). For 2000-2500 I would sure hope it includes everything you'd ever want

Will the XMC-1 be software upgradable via the ethernet connection? This would be so much easier for updates.

I wondered if anyone had asked if the XMC will have the same bass management and audio delay routing as the UMC.

A couple of things:
1. My understanding is that you only get your upgrade cert after the 30 day trial has ended.
2. Was there confirmation that the two sub outs are independent, i.e. with individual delay/EQ etc?

I never understood why the certificates are a big deal as Emotiva knows who have bought processors in the past therefore calling to order the next processor would be verified on the phone thus no need for certificates.

...and does it use the same EMO-Q as in the UMC, an advanced/improved multi-position version of EMO-Q, or some other room correction system?

And, is it using the same chipset as the UMC-1 (hope not), are the sub outs independent, does it have ACS, conventional bass management implementation, parametric EQ, HD tuner, Dolby headphone and a programmable remote? Oh yea! ;D jamrock

I thought you were worried about Emo's bottom line in fullfilling upgrade orders in your earlier post? lol If the upgrade certificate is in the box, then I guess you are ok, right? Those that received the UMC at the 40% discount, was an upgrade certificate included? I guess you did not read my previous post lol . So why do you consider it double dipping? As has been already posted here the upgrade certificate is not needed as Emotiva has a record of who bought what. I have no concern about Emotiva's bottom line as thats their business. I was commenting on whether the 40% discount is used to reward loyal customers or a tool to move product. It could be both which is great. But the question remains if those that used the 40% from the LMC-1 to buy the UMC-1 get a 40% upgrade for the XMC-1? I wonder if those with a 40% discount for the XMC-1 will have to wait longer for their order as with the UMC-1 buyers that were using the 40% discount? Bill

Bill I thought the upgrade program was changed so that unless you have a certificate (starting with the UMC) you cannot get the 40% off. I guess we need some clarification. (It was posted here before, but with proboard's horrid search and tons of missing posts before 2009,I can't seem to find it. ) No biggie, this was only my interpretation of the rules as I recall them since I became a customer. Now that I think about it more, you well may be correct.

Will it be 9.1 or 12.4 (max that blu-ray supports). Yet more marketing fluff to get us to buy more gear from the OEMs. 12.4? Ha!, where are all the 7.1 blurays let alone 9.1 or 12.4? Sure someone will build a 12.4 HT, but all of that sound will still be synthesized from good ole 5.1 for the vast majority of available source material. Note: Nothing against multiple subs but there hasn't been one commercial recording ever printed with more than one discrete sub channel.

Now that the XMC-Redux thread is really no longer valid hopefully Lonnie can give us some official specs on this product.
Being a 3rd gen product should mean that it varies greatly from the current UMC platform. Can we get those details please?

OK I attempted to enlarge the rear pic of the XMC. 9.2 with Ethernet and IPod connectivity? (dougie085 , you got your wish. ;D) We need details!

Well majority of blu-rays do 7.1, but even so many of them can do the presence channels in 9.2 rather well. Eventually they will start mastering the discs with 9.2 and then probably 12.4 although I imagine that's a ways down the road.
Bootman, you can't see the text there, the way I saw it it's not 9.2 it's 7.1 with 2 sub outs in that bank, the 2 sets of XLR's/RCA's on the left side are inputs.

Well it looks like the XMC-1 has been redesigned. Two sub outs, Ethernet and iPad/iPhone/iPod compatible. Price looks like $999 and hopefully Emo will advise a release date soon. Dave. That's a bargain. The Marantz AV7005 has similar specs and costs $1,500

I thought the talk from Emofest was that one would get the 40% off on the XMC-1 if they bought a UMC-1. Is that not correct? Maybe it would be best to wait for the offical word from Emotiva. But if that is true then one could use the 40% discount to buy the UMC-1 (from the LMC-1) then use that 40% discount for the XMC-1. But if there are a lot of people that would be applying the 40% discount on the XMC-1 that could possibly be an issue for Emotiva's bottom line when that time comes. Bill I spoke with Dan and Lonnie, both said you could use the discount from the UMC-1 on the XMC-1. Moreover, Dan told me that I could even use it on the high-end pre-pro. That made buying a UMC at $549 a no brainer! Last I had heard, the top end pre-pro was going to be $2000-2500. 40% off is a bargain! Now you got my attention! The big one is the one I want! Tell us all that you know!

Hi guy's, Wow, what a day yesterday; I'm still recovering. We had an incredible time with everyone and I hope that those of you that made it had a great day too. Just a quick note to confirm that the XMC-1 WILL be a Gen 3 platform and eligible for upgrade from the UMC-1/LMC-1/DMC-1. etc. We'll provide detailed product advice by the end of next week, along with lots of other news. In the meantime, let's enjoy this beautiful day! Best regards, Dan

Let me salute you for the awesome range Emotiva presented yesterday. Since I am in Belgium, being there was impossible (although, what's that French guy doing there?). XPR-1 will become a legend. PS: anyone want to buy two XPA-1 from Belgium?
