My UMC-1 arrived today! The sales office and Lonnie were extremely friendly in answering my pre-sales questions. No smoke and mirrors, Lonnie shot straight with me and said if I had any reservations about the UMC-1, then I probably shouldn't buy it (was that reverse psychology?) Packing was excellent At first glance, it's georgeous. The brushed aluminum is very classy. I even love the look of the remote (don't care for the "clicking" buttons though). The UMC-1 is replacing my previous Yamaha RX-V1800 so I'm really looking forward to seeing how it compares to an AVR both in SQ and Features. HDMI handshake with the PS3 was fine, a little slower than the Yamaha when switching sources but acceptable. I did hear the "pop" through my speakers when I powered it up. I'll have to see how often that happens. No popping when increasing volume so that is good. Unfortunately, the wife and kids were in bed so I was only able to play at low volumes. I'll get to play with the audio side tomorrow. Video looked very sharp. For now, I thought I would share a little eye candy.

Pop, the house is actually pretty well at not leaking outside. Possibly due to good insulation of the home. I do need to add some acoustic panels though due to a large slap echo in my room. I'm sure it definitely doesn't help with all the reflections and sound bouncing around. From what I've read, the panels would add more clarity to the sound.
Hemster, you have an open invitation. Definitely let me know when you are in town and want to stop by. Would love to get your advice after I have the UMC-1 setup. Maybe I could glean from your experience with it and maybe pick up some tips from your experience with it.

Nice clean set-up -- I like it! I think you'll be very happy with the UMC-1 and how it sounds. There are endless tweaks in the menus so you should be able to dial it in nicely with or without treatment panels. ...grab remote, press Volume Up multiple times, enjoy!!

Thanks geebo. Can I just take the day off to go play with it? LOL I heard there is a really bad 24 stomach bug going around the Plant City, FL. area. Your typing seems off, you should probably just lie down today and get some rest ;D

Hey Youthman,
I love your setup. It sure is nice to have a dedicated room. I wish that I could but it just wasn't meant to be for me. However, I do have a space dedicated for my home theater in the living room.
I received my UMC-1 just this past Monday. Could not set it up until Tuesday. I have been tweaking it since Tuesday. My wife said I can hear what people are actually saying on the TV. Also, she remarked how good the music sounds now. What more can I say? I have WAF. Thank you Emotiva! You made my wife happy.
Did not mean to steal the op post but this post just had the perfect description for me.
Youthman could not have said it better. +10 to Youthman.

The power on pop is related to the .10 firmware. If it bugs you, downgrade to .07.
Oh, and yes nice pics!

I believe I'm getting the pop just before the source begins to play (ex. DVD player). Maybe this is the UMC-1 connecting with that device? Another odd thing is with the PS3, when I click play on a song, it takes 2 - 3 seconds for sound to begin so I miss the first few notes of the song unless I hit back and start the song over. Then it plays fine. Can't remember if this happens with the first song of a CD on the Integra DVD source. I'll have to check that tonight when I get home. Is this part of the "audio drop" problem or something different?
