 UPA-1 Thank You, Emotiva!!!
« Thread Started on Dec 8, 2011, 2:08pm »

Warning: This will not be an objective, data driven, technical review... :P

The UPA-1 is a fine, well balanced and powerful amp. It's easy to set up, has all the power my center channel (Vienna Acoustics Maestro Grand) demands or will ever need and it is a very aesthically appealing piece of equipment. It looks great!!!

Thank you, Emotiva, for a great product.

-Michael

Congrats on your new UPA-1 amp, Michael. It is nice to know that they are visually appealing and have ample power to drive the Vienna Acoustics speakers, but HOW Do the SOUND? ;D ;D

OK...I've had a couple of days to listen to this UPA-1 drive my center channel, both for HD TV and a movie....

For TV, the subtle noises the background of some shows, such as "Sons of Guns" (shop equipment, others talking, etc...), are now coming out, making for a much more realistic viewing experience. The voice reference to the front is more detailed, focused and clear. It's amazing what a monoblock putting out the correct amount of power will do.

For movies, in 5.1 (well, 5.0 as my eD woofer amp went tits up on me and is in the shop) it definitely highlights the inadequacy of my Rotel mult-channel amp (RMB-1075) when it tries to drive the VA's. But, from a quality standpoint, the difference is night and day. My Maestro is extremely happy to have found a new friend.

Can't wait for the XPA-1's (or maybe an XPA-2) to be added to the fronts, and some more UPA-1's (or a UPA-2) to be added to the rears. (8 More Days & Counting!!! ;D)

Right now I am conducting an experiment with my Denon, the Rotel and my recently retrieved ADS L-880 speakers. More on that in another thread. :)
