I know the new XPR amps are larger than the XPA series amps. You should contact Emotiva and tell them you are in the midst of remodeling and need the dimensions of the XPR amp you want to purchase. They should be able to help you out. I think the New amps will be shipping this summer, so they have locked in the chassis dimensions by now.

Have any of you guys who are constantly asking about a release date for the XPR amps, ever call or send an e-mail to Emotiva? It would be a good thing to do ;)!

I emailed Emotiva sales yesterday, and got a response from Vincent today:
"Hello Jim currently the XPR-5 is our nearest release product for later this year. Our testing and developing is progressing very well. Please stay tuned on our website for further news at www.emotiva.com. Thank you for your support."

So.. looks like no more information as of now.

Hopefully, those who are constantly asking about a release date will read your post and educate themselves. I hope also that been the nearest release product, does not mean that the XSP-1 gets pushed back again, because its release was promised for May 2012 on Facebook ???

When it comes producing more advanced and up to date unit, Emotiva lag behind with other brand. Denon, Yamaha, Marantz just to name a few release a new product every year whether their new unit has refinement or just added features. Their designer has the ability to produce a product yearly and even have a design for the next coming year. Maybe they have alot of engineers working behind the scene to keep up to their competition. XSP-1 took many years in development and not even out at this time. Maybe the question need to be asked, how many engineers working with emotiva in comparison with Denon/Marantz?

Well, I'm glad that Emotiva is not an every year new product model release type company. Companies that do that type of marketing, normally cater to the uninformed consumer who is titillated with the gee whiz factor and not solid, good, audio. Emotiva is first and foremost an "Audiophile Grade Manufacturer" Therefore, performance takes precedent over features. Emotiva is not competing with the likes of Denon, Yahama, etc. Their competition is more like Outlaw Audio. The amount of engineers is irrelevant. It is the quality of the products that matter. ;)

What is the point of coming out with new models every year (or more often)? This year's Onkyo or Yamaha or whatever may have some esoteric new feature but for the most part, this year is essentially the same as last year. One thing I noticed when I upgraded my Onkyo a few years ago - the new model (706) was a lot lighter than the old one - both were AVR's and it seems to me that they really just cheapened the construction. These bigger brands are out there to attract new customers and compete against each other at the big box stores so they have to have "new and improved" models coming out all the time even though there really is very little that is new and as for "improved" I'd say that is questionable since the quest is to increase profits in the face of increasing expenses so they probably cut more and more corners. All that overhead they incur by constantly coming out with new models has to take a toll somewhere and it is likely from cutting those corners to trim expenses.

Emotiva isn't competing against brands like that. I'd rather have a piece of Emo gear any day than any of those other brands you mentioned.

In all honesty, I don't see the XMC-1 coming out before the end of the year. Not a believer in "No news is good news" when it comes to a product. With all the players involved in XMC-1 development, the end of the year is likely on the optimistic side.

What is your foundation?
Emo promised that it would released in the summer. We are still relatively near the beginning of spring. Patience is a virtue my friend. I guess that only some of us are blessed with it ;D

+1. Its not like those companies are creating new pieces every year from the ground up. Not by a long shot.
Much like the automotive industry that keeps a particular vehicle's design in place for 5 to 10 years before coming out with an all new from the ground up model. They simply make cosmetic changes, add an insignificant feature here and there only to compel people to buy. But it's really the same car for several years.

I am not as capable as it seems many of you are financially. However for what it is worth. I find these to be very intriguing and cannot say enough good things about the looks. Granted I do not like that they changed the power button and location of it (It looks lopsided) but the rest es very appealing. Especially if the led's do have the peak led stay lit while it is dancing away. I miss that in the old EQ we used. It is a nice feature to have for those "Chilling" times we have in life...

True, it is marketing that drives this, not engineering.

On a side note I did email Emotiva yesterday. I asked for a ball park figure on the XPR-5. It looks like it's gonna be in the $2500 range.
