Can we continue the XMC comments (except when comparing hypothetical sound quality and connectivity with the XDA) over to the processors section?

As far as ht, it's a low priority but when I get around to it, can't see any pre as interesting at this point as the XMC. What is interesting abt the XMC other than TACT which we dont know its implementation yet and POSSIBLY iphone apps? I've been waiting for the full specs for a long long time.. AVRs with confirmed XT32, dual HDMI out, DSX, LFC, iphone/ipad apps.. are getting to look more tempting with and if their replacement were to come out before or around the time of xmc, non emo fanboys will think twice.. espescially since with AVRs, u can save power amps for non critical channels and allocate more budget to the front 3 amplifications.. Then you are a features person and not a true AUDIOphile for whom SOUND IS OF OPTIMUM IMPORTANCE. So you turned on & off your AVR with your cellphone or ipad. Is it anymore "ON or OFF" if I used the supplied remote? Why even post this in the thread about a coming audiophile DAC?

To me stereo is abt fidelity while ht is heavier towards features. Movies are not mixed to sound real do they? The avr or processor's function is to make movies more engaging and u more immersed. Those features allows u to do that in.
Agree this is not the right track to talk abt the xmc though.. This will be my last xmc linked post in this thread. Sorry for jumping to a comment on the xmc made here and turning it to a discussion.

Could you please take the time to spell out all your words completely?

Could you please take the time to spell out all your words completely? THANK YOU…! I’m getting a head-ache from reading the poor spelling and the general trolling nature of his/her posts in this thread.

I assume that the xda-2 will have a similar HA as the XMC-1

HA? what's that? Headphone amp?
Also, on the XDA-2 and Pro DAC...has anyone been able to pry out any timing info? They, like the XSP-1, sound quite imminent given their appearance at Newport, but there was no specific timing given for either on the last webcast.
The XDA-2 is starting to get on my radar screen. I had been thinking of getting an Oppo 95 for a great BluRay and stereo decoding. But suddenly, using my current low budget Panny BDP outputting digital to the XDA-2 then to my USP-1 (or XSP-1 when it's ready) for my 2 channel listening is seeming like a good other option. If it sounds like I think it will, I could simplify my system and sell my Denon 2930 and likely even improve 2-channel sound over either source I have today.

Of course, I'm just assuming. It seems logical to make it the same in terms of cost of parts. With the talk of a fully differential mini XPA-1 being talked about going into, uhm, thinking next year, I wonder if the next few years will be emotiva's "golden age".

They sure have a lot riding on the success of all their new product launches. We wish them the best of luck.

Some pictures of the XDA-2 as well as some others (including one of the pro DAC!) have been posted by monkumonku on the show thread. I am reposting them here for those interested... It was a pleasure visiting the Emotiva rooms today and I'm glad I finally got to meet many of the team. Lonnie was the first one I met and he was extraordinarily gracious (as were all of them). We had a nice chat about the postings on the Lounge and he actually remembered me, haha. ;D I also got to meet and talk with Vince, Cathy, Big Dan, Ray and Nick (actually Nick #1 in the pro room; there were two Nicks, but unfortunately I didn't get to meet Nick #2 in the main room as he was busy answering questions for the many visitors - and thus no picture either). Everyone was super friendly! Plus I got a nice Emo t-shirt as well although they only had one "Tennesse-size" XL which is a mite big for me. As for equipment: They didn't have a whole lot, as you can see from the pictures below but it's quality over quantity. Another poster complained that they really didn't get to listen to anything because there was so much talking, and that was the case with me as well (plus I was guilty of the same) so I really can't comment on the sound in the main room. The 6.2's, from what I heard, sounded good - non-fatiguing and smooth, but the volume was not that high and there were too many distractions. The big drool-over component for me was the XSP-1. I had been on the fence about this one and at the present time am mainly thinking about the XMC-1, plus I really don't want to pry open my wallet for both of these things. However, as of right now I'M BUYING BOTH as I gotta have them!!! I'll figure out where to put them later as I don't have room on my rack for both. I regret selling my ERC-1 earlier although practically speaking I have no use for it since I hardly play CD's anymore; everything is streamed. I sure would like to have it back or an ERC-2 even though it makes no real sense. You can also see the XDA-2 in one of the pictures below. Behind the scenes was the CMX-6, which you can see below, too. Release dates for the XMC-1 and XSP-1: "summer." That's about as precise as anyone would make it. The main room was very popular, people coming in and out and asking questions (I heard a few people ask where the equipment was made). The Pro room, at least when I went, wasn't as crowded. The Stealth 8 was on demo, connected to the DAC-1. Music was being streamed from a laptop. According to Nick, the price for the 8's will be $1,499 a pair and the DAC-1 $699. Emo is the deciding reason I went to the show. While I love audio gear, shows like this can be a zoo and it isn't that easy to evaluate anything given the circumstances. If they were not there I probably wouldn't have gone, but I did want to meet the staff that made the trip out here (especially since I still can't talk Mrs. Monku into going to Emofest). It was well worth it - as I said, they were all so friendly, gracious and welcoming. And it was good for them since now I want an XSP-1 whereas before I didn't, and I also put in the good word for them to someone who was looking at their gear. ;D I will post comments about the other gear I saw/heard in another thread. Mrs. Monku made the trip but since she's not an audio fool like me, I dropped her off at the South Coast Plaza so she could be a shopping fool. It was a nice trip - the highlights were the visit to the Emo room, and having lunch at In-N-Out Burger.

I was at the show... I see a ERC 2 + XDA 2 in my future next xmas gift from me to me . And I got to chat w/ Lonnie for a good amount of time and found out, he pretty much designed my current Carver A 500 x amps that I'm using. Guess what, those are NEVER going back to the market, and soon will be going back to carver for a refresher. Doc.

A few more hints and spoilers about the XDA-2 and "Pro-Dac"....
The XDA-2 will, as Dan said, have a (digitally controlled) analog volume control and a really good headphone amp. It will also have a few other surprises.... In fact, it'll have pretty much everything you really need in an audiophile DAC... including a lot of the cool stuff we developed for our pro device.
We're not making a huge point of which DAC chip we're using for one very simple reason: because the chip is only a small part of how an entire DAC sounds. Most modern DAC chips are capable of sounding spectacularly good, or totally mediocre, depending on how well they're implemented. We're going to make sure that the entire thing sounds great... and you can rest assured that we're using a chip that can deliver on that promise. (Sure, the numbers will be spectacular, but that isn't the important part, now is it?)
The pro dac (not its official name) will be a bit further down the road. It will include the same great audiophile sound as the XDA-2, but it will also add some new features developed specifically to appeal to pros in a studio environment. (Of course, many of the pro features will also appeal to audiophiles who want the ultimate in features and performance.)

From reading the posts over in THE Show thread and the one above, it looks like: Pro DAC-1 - $699 XDA-2 - $400
Or somewhere around there ...

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression that Emo were using the Analog Devices 1955 DAC chip in the XDA-2. I haven't seen any information regarding the DAC chip in the pro model, although it would be nice to know. ;D

I keep hoping it might have auto source selection. At least as an option.
