Well, I'm a 7.2 kind a guy. This does not appeal to me. But there were many members knocking me around like like pool ball about my aggressive approach and demand for an high powered 7 channel amp. They wanted a light weight, low powered, 5 channel amp. I will be looking forward to the change in their equipment signatures. Oh, I'll be kind. I will not make any public announcement or poke fun at you. Just for my own personal record. But just be careful how you comment on multi-channels amps if you don't get one .

Too early to tell. Until they release the details we won't know. If it is very much like the UPA-5, the pricing is really very agressive.

Is this a real product or just commenting on speculation?

Yep, Big Dan and Cathy put up a new podcast at about 5:30 pm today. They announced a few new products, price reductions, and updates on products in the pipeline. Dan also finally explained what has been delaying the release of the XSP-1 and said that it is finally in production with a July ship date. They had to rework one of the boards. Just listen to the podcast for all the details.

They alluded to more UPA amps coming; so likely a 2 and 7 channel version is on the way!
Unlike the outgoing UPA series (2, 5, & 7) I bet the amp modules are not based so closely on the X-series amp modules. It's my guess that they've come up with a way to make a good sounding amp that uses cost competitive components to pass along a great price to consumers! At this price why would anyone get an AVR other than as a pre-amp!?!

Maybe it'll be a class D amp. Pure speculation but the price isn't. $399? Incredible price for a 125x5 amp.

At this price, the barrier to entry to separates just got decimated...

Add a pre/pro like the UMC-1 to it for $499 and you have a potent separate system for the beginner.

They're bringing back the UPA-5? Is this even cheaper than the original? I want BETTER quality parts than the old one, not cheaper.

There were failures of component parts in the U-series amps? Being that they were under powered X-series amps shouldn't we start seeing component failures in all their amps? Unless you're referring to having higher grade of parts (rather than higher reliability). At that point it would be going against the grain as higher quality means higher price which would be counter intuitive to their entry or value level power amp.
If you want higher quality, see the XPR thread (They're Here). Higher power, higher quality, higher price.

You are reading into what i said. Read it again, at no time did i refer to amp failures. I want better sq than the old, retired UPA amps. I don't need 200 or 500 wpc, and few people do. I want cost-is-no-object amps from Emo but they keep releasing and then retiring entry level products.
I'm about 5 years too late to the Emo party i guess.
