 2 mach 5 FTW21
« Thread Started on Mar 3, 2012, 11:31pm »

So since I'll be one of the first people to get Mach 5 Audio's new FTW 21" subs, I figured I'd start a new thread.
These will be in 7 cubic foot boxes and powered with a bridged ep4000 each. The drivers should be ready in 2 weeks and I'm hopefully going to get a cabinet maker friend to build me 2 boxes pro laminated finished. He owes me some work and thats what I'm going to make him do lol

I'll update the thread as I get the drivers and start building the boxes.

I just have to ask. I'm a fan of bass but what could you possibly have that needs these and an 18 inch sub? Both of you?! I can only imagine something open-air.

Outstanding. If you find you like them more than your 21" Maelstroms, I may be in the market for two more...

I currently have 6 x 18's and will have 2 x 21's. These 21's are just for fun, I don't need any of it, I just like to build stuff and I love subs.
I will likely be replacing my current mal-x 18's with these new 21's as they will take the 18's floor space.

DYohn these model very similar to the mal-x 21's, with a bit more jam under 20hz because if their 22.5 BL and a bit lower F's.
If I ever doo sell my mal-x 21's, you'll be the first to know.

That's one thing I really liked about the IXL. That really low F is nice, especially anchored to full range speakers.

Price is not confirmed yet. I'd guessing around $700-$750.

I've been checking the Mach 5 site almost everyday and I'm very excited to finally see the FTW available. Price is very reasonable too at $690 shipped to US. I'll have to wait a few weeks before I can afford one but I definitely want one of these beasts. Any update on your build N8?

So I got the drivers today, holy hell, these are beefy!!!! a good 15 lbs heavier than my mal-x 21's and very well built!! Mark thought the baskets were the same as the mal-x 21's were but they are not, they are MUCH beefier. These baskets look like they could fall off a house and survive!! These are the beefiest baskets I've personally ever seen on a sub. The surround is thick and loks to be well over built. I love my mal-x 21's but these things surpass that build quality by a fair margin! I've got them running on a 20hz tone for a while to loosen up the surrounds as they are pretty stiff.
