The one Demo disc to buy
« Thread Started on Jul 6, 2012, 7:01pm »

My new amp arrives on Tuesday.
I'm thinking I need to buy a new Blu-Ray to test it out once it's hooked up.
If I buy one new demo disc, what would you suggest?

Oh, now your opening a can of worms with asking that. I listen to so many styles, people think I'm nuts.
Here at work I just went from Alison Krauss - New Favorite to Captain Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica! Just can't stand rap, and most bubblegum country
I've bought the Rush Blu-Rays and a couple others.

Might have to hook up the SACD player again. Haven't used it in awhile. It's only a cheap Sony player though. Bet Dark Side of the Moon would be great.
But my wife already made the comment, " I think you upgraded just for music, not movies" So I better get a movie

DSOTM, and also WYWH and Dire Straits' Brothers in Arms are very good SACDs. If you want to try some good BluRays then Roy Orbison's Black and White Night, David Gilmore's Remember that Night, and Jeff Back's Live at Ronnie Scotts are very good to show of the system.

I've got both. If you want to show it off to your wife, try Avatar. Tron is good but the story line is not for everyone.

Of all the demo disks I wouldn't have picked "Inception"... except for the fact that one needs ti see it more than once to get it! ;) :)

+1000. I'd add "Hell Freezes Over" - Eagles to the mix too.

If DVDs still count, then The Fifth Element is a superb torture test for a video system. Excellent use of lighting and production makes it a "must have".
