Sticks, your are a gentleman for that! 8-)

Arctikdeth, Thin Lizzy is such a great sounding band. All of their albums sound clean and clear. There a a couple of DVD concerts they have that are really great.

Remember the single 'No Rain' from Blind Melon? The one hit wonder whose lead singer Shannon Hoon died way before his time? Kind of a soft spot for me since he and the band are from my home state. And on a side note, from the same town as Axl Rose who helped Blind Melon get a start. Hoon also sang backup on a few tunes on Use Your Illusion from GNR. I'm not a big fan of GNR, but still interesting!
Going through my collection of CD's to find something that I used to listen to that might sound new again, boy did I find it! Funny how that happens. I find it happening alot with early 70's rock, and also with early to mid 90's rock. For me that is when the music is REALLY good. When it becomes timeless. About the time when 'grunge' ended, something different emerged.

Blind Melon- self titled. They only managed to get one album out before the lead man OD'd. The second album was released after his passing, but the real deal is with the first album. A true one of a kind voice with a very cool stage persona. This album has some very cool tunes that easily were much better than the tune that made them famous. Give it a spin if you can. Something different and refreshing. One thing is for sure, he certainly had a huge amount of soul...

a good one...I was just thinking of putting on my LP of his Live performance from the 80's. That's a good one, too.

Man, do these re master sound wonderful. I picked up this one and MMT (which is next for me to listen). I am amazed at the quality of these in stereo and I wish I had the chance to audition some of the mono versions for comparison purposes but hey, I'm not complaining. these are very well done recordings.

They sure are - I was just comparing my CD of Sgt Pepper to the remaster, and the remaster was much nicer. Now I plan to compare that to my LP (which is on some very nice vinyl - not the usual garbage pressings cranked out in the US).

I have mentioned this band before and I own pretty much all their works. This one is pretty good too! It is not my favorite for some reason although All Music has it as the top pick.

Went to the old stuff tonight:
- Aerosmith: Toys in the Attic
- Led Zeppelin II
- Neil Young: Heart of Gold (Live from the Ryman)
- Toto: Falling Inbetween Live
- Len's Lounge: Pets (local musician/friend's husband - sounded great on USP1!)

A good night overall...

Yea, Ronnie James Dio could flat out SING. I found that CD lurking in a book store for $5.99 and could not pass it up.

I really like Tool and A Perfect Circle (Both are fronted by Maynard James Keenan). My favorite album of Tool's is Aenemia. Great stuff!

Van Halen - Fair Warning

It's been awhile since I have listened to the old Van Halen albums. I personally considered Van Halen as a new band when David Lee Roth left.

i just stay away from here. nowone likes my humor & i get suspended to much. people are so uptight when it comes to religion, politics & race, ill just stay away. most people you cant get a greased bb in their ass there wound so tight. people get so tight when it comes to this stuff, and yes i feel we should speak our minds, as this is our freedom, when people get suspended for speaking their minds, this is socialism......and tells us we h ave no freedoms in this country, which is bad. like the people who complain about a cartoon having a shotgun in it or a cigar, or the boob clip from superbowl,....people are so damn pampered in this country & should lighten up. we ALL have our opinions & should be able to speak without the fear of being singled out or yelled at or thought of as a biggot, or a rscist, or a left wing or right wing or whatever the f**k. were losing our freedons fast people, time to wake up. before there all gone & you all clap with glee at the socialilst govt which wants comtrol of your lives, the health care system, the schools, the banks, car dealerships, & your money. its a shame you all clap witgh glorious abandon as we lose our freedom, but then again thats the way ofr the socialist government, to make you THINK there heros & then take it all away from you. the govt wants to do away with unions so we all make 12 dollars an hour & lose our homes & live in sh*t boxes for homes & cant afford anything. iim angry now, revolution calling.....................

i want fair trials, fair judges, where your actually innocent until proven guilty, cops who dont lie, cheat & steal to mkae then seem like thgere heros when there NOT. a govt that supports its people & takes care of the elderly, the homeless, the weak & the ones who have nothing. its time to stop being mindless sheep & use your heads for a change, not just what uncle scam wants you to do, they want us dependant on them for everything so they can steam roll thge poor people & make them poorer & dependant, this is socialism/communism. what roads we take to work, who we can talk to, what we can talk about , what our schools teach, if we can mention the word God in a sentence w/out being called a biggot or whatever. its a shame were so pampered & have to put up with such people & the way things are these days, were taking a turn for the worse & the usa is all about " listening & being used, beat up, stolen from, taxed to death, taxed tax, bills, raise prices on everything, more taxes on pop, candy, beer, food, car purchases, more more more. tax you til you have nothing & take your home if yuo cant pay your taxes, you have no rights here no more. they come in take it all, just because they can. people were literally forced with immanent domain from their homes & paid what the govt/town wanted to put up a walgreens near me,.....the people who pay their taxes have NO say so, they just sat back as their homes were ripped from them, years & years paying tax & for what, only to be forcefully removed from their homes, there people are americans, juist thgrown out like a cigarette buut from your car. iyts sick.............

well, I dunno.

I am a staunch free speech defender but there are limits, aren't there? I mean, we really don't think its OK to use racial slurs under the protection of free speech, do we? I don't think so anyway. In your own home, sure, you can say what you want but in a public setting, I think free speech is not a license to say whatever you wish, is it?

Hell, why are we talkiung about this . . back to the tunes. ,

For me, it's ok for anyone to say what they want in whatever forum they choose - even if it's a racial slur or whatever. That just helps me (and others) know where the person stands.

I would not agree with what they would say, but I would rather know where they stand and have that be out in the open. Then, everyone can choose how much weight they put in such comments. And, I have found that the hidden hate is the most dangerous. That said, I find any racial/homophobic/other slurs highly offensive and indicative of the originator's intellect.

And, I am with Rather...now...back to the tunes...or, for me...I'm watching the Crimson Tide right now. "Rollllll Tide!!!!!!" (I am an Indiana native with a Mom from 'bama...the Tide tugs at my heart!)
