Hi all,
I'm hoping I can get some help. I decided recently to get back into EMO gear, but I'm having an issue with the UMC-1. Basically, I get pops and beeps in my right surround when Dolby Volume is engaged. I talked to support several times and ultimately they decided to ship me a new unit. The new unit worked for the last two nights and has now started to exhibit the same problem. Here are some notes:
1. I reversed the interconnect and the problem feeds into different speakers so I know it's coming from the right surround output on the UMC-1 and not the amplifier.
2. I messed with the Dolby Offset and other settings with no luck.
3. I notice it only starts when the unit heats up and has been running for an hour or so.
4. I re-loaded defaults and even re-flashed the firmware with no luck.
5. It does it on all sources with no discernible pattern.
6. The unit did not show any sign of problems until after running EmoQ this morning. It's almost as if EmoQ filled up a memory buffer somewhere and doesn't purge even with re-flashing and re-loading.
7. I reversed speaker hookups and the problem follows the preamp out on the UMC-1.
8. I unplugged all sources and ran just the tuner and the problem still exists.
9. I tried moving everything away from the UMC-1 in case it was receiving interference from somewhere.
10. If I force down-mixing to Stereo, the problem follows into the front right speaker.
I'm already on my second UMC-1 and really don't want to go back to a typical receiver, but I really need this issue resolved as Dolby Volume is a must in my household. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
