For the folks that attended Emofest, what details can you give us about the new X-Series speakers? They look pretty sharp in the poster that I saw.

The 6.1 looks like something I may be looking for. Very sweet.

I got on the pre-order list for the XRM-6.1's and XRC-6.2. Looking forward to trying them out in my home theater.

I know the towers are ported in the front, but I'm not sure about the monitors. I want to say front for the XRM-6.1's, but again not sure. I'm sure the Emotiva homesite will be updating in the near future with the pre-order lists products, so better color pictures will reveal all.

The 6.2 look very nice indeed... I much prefer the look of this line to the existing series of speakers.... I might even have to take the plunge when these babies are available...

so this series will have better sound quality than the existing ones? Will it replace the old series? Release date? I can't wait.

I'm confused... are these the replacements for the current reference speakers or are they another speaker line? What happened with the Ultra Speakers?

I didn't hear Big Dan or Lonnie say that the X-Ref line would be replacing the exist ERT/ERD/ERM line, maybe someone else that asked them that question will answer, but I don't think they will be replacing them. Not sure of the release date, but they had a pre-order sign-up list, which Lonnie confirmed if there is a pre-order list then there is a scheduled production run, so I'm guessing before years end.

The X-Ref is what they are now calling the Ultra speaker line. The current "Reference" series will still be the top end speakers produced by Emotiva and the the X-Ref will be considered a step below. This may be a bit out of context because it was also stated that the current "Reference" series were designed for primarily HT use because of their frequency drop off and the need to be paired with a sub. The X-Ref are designed to have a wider range on them so they can be used with music. Naturally both can be used for either based upon the user and what they like.

well, I'm more focused on music including bluray concerts. Hmmm, makes sense that its a step below. But the X-ref has a wider range so I'm thinking it can do more than what the current one does, making it better. That's the only confusing part to me.
The idea of a 5.1 system with a focus on music for less than a grand is certainly very appealing to me.

I would certainly like to see more detailed specifications on this new line of speakers. To me they seem to be a lot like the current speakers (same exterior finish) with the main difference being a ported design in the new line and somewhat lower bass extension. My question would be at what cost (meaning what is lacking). Until I see more, the current reference line appears to me to be the superior speaker. Yes, one needs a sub with the current line. Almost all speakers need to be matched with an excellent sub IMO. Those thinking they don't need a sub with the new line might be kidding themselves. It will be interesting to hear the feedback of those that compare the two lines side by side.

The design for a wider range is likely so people can listen to 2 channel with a pair of full range towers and don't require a sub. I prefer to listen to 2 channel without a sub. Some of the current reference series roll off at 80Hz and require a sub. As I stated, both will work in any application. I believe that the drivers (other than the tweeter) are a step below the drivers in the current reference series.

I get it now, things make more sense in the day than late at night. also I seriously misread the price of the ERM 6.2, all this time I thought it was $299 for the pair.
