A few sub specs... « Thread Started on Jul 16, 2008, 1:28pm »
Ok, I know you guys have been waiting on the subs with the same intensity Ralphie was waiting for his Red Ryder BB Gun in 'A Christmas Story'...
Talked at length with Lonnie about the subs today, and have a short list of a few specs...and they're way friggin' cool.
First off, though, I need to say this: The subs work out of the box. Plug 'em in, turn 'em on. Pow. Subs. I talked to forum member rll this weekend, and he expressed no interest in sitting down at a computer and going into the menu of a sub. So, I specifically discussed that. They work right away.
BUT...you have two more options: Going into the menu to customize them, either via the display on the sub amp, or with a computer through a USB connection. (There are a few options available only through the computer connection)
Those of you looking to fine tune the settings to perfectly match your room or personal tastes, rejoice.
Those of you who are fiddling, incessant tweakers, rejoice.
Here's a few tidbits for you. No, this is not all, and no, I don't have much more to tell you at the moment.
1. Multiple trigger inputs with 4 assignable options.
2. Multiple start up and shut down options.
3. The crossover can be selected in 1hz increments. 1hz, people...like I said, tweakers and fiddlers, rejoice. I'm already imagining that guy out there who can't sleep, keeps getting up until 4am, trying it at 56hz this time...trying it at 53...maybe 55...
7. Full alphanumeric display with programmable illumination.
8. 2 user defined EQs (full parametric).
9. Auto room correction
Again, this is all I know at the moment, although there is more...a lot more. We'll make that info available when the DSP is finished and everything tests thumbs up.
We just wanted to let you know that the subs are moving along, and throw you a few crumbs while you're waiting.
The features are the same on the single 12" sub and the 12" dual set. The 10 inch sub in the works is a simpler standard type sub with a few manual controls.
I know I've just opened Pandora's box here, and I honestly don't have anything else to add to it, so...
These subs are TIGHT. None of that loosey-goosey rumbling low end...it's distinct. Power and punch. I'm saying that based on the older prototypes we have from last year...There have been improvements made since.
If you missed it on another thread, the expected prices on the subs are:
ERS212 - $999 (Two 12" subs, sealed cabinets 14x14x14.5, with a amp well in excess of 1,000 watts - actually wattage to be announced). ERS112 - $699 (Single, powered 12" sub, 14x14x14.5 sealed cabinet, 1,000 watts). ERS110 - $499 (Single, powered 10" sub, 450 watts).

Well theres little doubt that if I come up with the money I'll be selling off the new DIY subs I have in the works. I don't think they will be able to even come anywheres near this price-to-performance ratio
GoodLord... if my wife figures out what I'm up to, she'll have me committed for sure.

I have always been a firm believer that when asked, never lie. But that doesn't mean you have to volunteer everything.

I have been waiting on the ERS-112 for 10 years, I just didn't know it until Emotiva announced late last year that they had it in the works. It's a good thing to, since an SVS or Velodyne sub was almost ordered. Never knew a sub could have so much fun stuff built in to it. My laptop has a USB port just waiting for an opportunity to tweak away. This is great news indeed!!!
