These Scaena Iso-Linear Array speakers went for a paltry Axpona Expo Sale price of $46,500. The speaker cable was also on sale for some ridiculously overpriced amount which escaped me at the moment because of the jaw dropping price of the actual speakers. I'd like to point out that the cable lifters were plastic water cups, rather ironic with a room where the cheapest item for sale was $5999. ;D

They never did get the stuff in that room working right.

These speakers were in the Cary Audio room presented by Oswaldo Martinez of "Let There Be Sound". www.lettherebesound.comThese were definitely my favorite of the show and they were surprisingly inexpensive, $2000 for the pair, compared to all of the other showrooms except for the Emotiva speakers. They are a single driver, full range speaker, the sound was awesome to say the least and I've never heard so much from a speaker of this size period. Well defined highs and bass that you would swear was coming from a hidden woofer, pretty efficient at 93db. They were hooked up to a Cary Exciter series 5 watt tube amp, clipping occured on heavy bass passages, we wanted to hear them through a solid state power amplifier so they hooked up the Cary model 2.200(2 x 200w/ch), and the bass response was phenomenal. These speakers sing, and in my opinion sounded better powered by the solidstate amp as opposed to the tube amp. The name you ask, "SUR" by Jose. These are made exclusively by an Argentinian man, "Jose" for Let There Be Sound, mentioned above, and these were their debut into the world of audio. Besides myself, TBro49, Hemster, Autiger & LegacyBoy were absolutely floored by these. When I have a dedicated two channel room in the future, these will be the first to be auditioned.

I agree with LCSeminole's assessment above on the Sur speakers. I think we'll be hearing a lot more about these, Jose has a winner on his hands.

I wish I had a chance to hear them. They kept playing with the other setups every time I was in that room.

I see a turntable in the Emotiva 2-channel room. Does anyone know anything about that? The turntable is an old Kenwood table with a Grado Gold Cartridge that a listener brought in while I was listening to some of my demo CDs. He wanted to hear some early Pink Floyd that I did not care for so I left after the turntable was hooked up and put to use. It not an Emo prototype, if that's what you are hoping. I did not get to meet other froum members, but I met Lonnie and Kathy and some other staffers there. MajorLoser is spot on with his comments. I listened to the single driver speaker by JOSE late on Friday and was very impressed too. I thought the seminars there were interesting. Jim Smith was giving a good seminar on how to get better sound out of your system, without doing any significant upgrading of equipment. I have his book, GET BETTER SOUND, and highly recommend it. The 12" Emo sub is on my radar screen. I think it may be the ticket to pair with my NHT Super One loudspeakers in my upstairs 2 channel rig. I wish I had seen the pic of the XMC prototype, since I am waiting on that piece too. Emotiva was using the OPPO BDP-83 to their DVD/Blu Ray player, but all other equipment except the TV was Emotiva in the home theater room. Speaking of home theater, the AIX audio/video presentation was interesting even if the performers were not well known. Also, did anyone else see and hear the $6000.00 Airstream wireless media preamp. It received streaming music signals wirelessly from a laptop computer and controled a bare bones stereo power amp and speakers. It was a bit odd to see this silver box connected by RCA cables directly to a power amp, with no apparent source hooked up to it and it was playing tunes. Could this be the harbinger of the future?

So did nobody snap a shot of the XMC-1 rendering or was Emo keeping that a secret?

The XMC was on Lonnie's computer so I doubt anyone got a pic of it. Dan said as a result of all the negative comments waiting on the UMC, they were going to keep things a little closer rather than release info early.

This was pretty cool and I think it is the future. I asked if was able to accept/switch to more than one feed or input signal and he said at this time it couldn't. Also no wireless video due to banwidth. But wireless is the way of the future. What a GREAT HOBBY.

I see Vizio is getting ready to introduce their new pro-line which will include wireless HDMI... I believe Sony and LG already offer this on their TV's... I'd be curious to know how hard it would be to take second or third party companies (like emotiva) and tailor make a processor to distribute a wireless HDMI signal to any of a variety of compatible televisions. To me, this is the direction things are moving very rapidly (if quality and reliability are there)
I know at CES they showed a tv that actually ran wireless power... through specifically tuned magnets... I can see a day where we can hang a completely wireless television in a room 3 feet away from any wall, box, or tower...
But as for the XMC - 1 if I were to somehow get a sneak peak via pm sometime in the near future I would be willing to 1. keep it to myself 2. not complain about it 3. buy it the first day I can

Big Dan did say we have much to look forward to in 2010. ;D

Is it as awesome as I'm hoping it is (and to gauge my level of awesomeness... think 8 year old with his own living transformer robot)? Does it look like the UMC only 3 RU?

I don't care for the layout of that amp at all. Those wire bundles are pretty sloppy work. Plus...they press right up against the heat sinks. Poor planning.

THE TURNTABLE IN THE EMO ROOM WAS A YOUNG MAN WHO WANTED TO HEAR HIS TABLE ON THEIR SYSTEM.

My wife's favorite room was the Sonist Recital 3 speakers and Glow Audio EL 84 tube amp. It was a good sounding system and for the money it was a steal. For a speaker with 93db sensitivity it made that 5watt amp sound unbelievable. The Cary CD made the system out of reach at $8,500.00. Add the ERC-1 and you'd have a smoking system.
