Has anyone else done any testing between the RPA amps and the UPA-1s? I have myself and have to say that any differences were so minute that I couldn't hear them. Same specs at 4 & 8 ohms, both mono blocks, but the RPA series was the reference series and the U amps are supposedly "entry level" although I feel that is debatable in the pure sense of things. I have an RPA-2 and love it. It sounds so sweet and so pure and the meters are cool too. But having true mono blocks for my fronts is soooo tempting once again (I had this setup before and sold the UPA-1s ). Why? Because I could I guess!! ;D I couldn't tell any differences. Can anyone else? ??

that bodes well for the upa-1. I dream of owning the xpa-1, but if I could get away with the upa-1 I would.

Take it back cgolf! ;D The RPA was their reference line and, the UPA 1 well the ultra. Not to mention, it is a work of art. IMO,one of the best amps I've ever heard. Of course I haven't heard the UPA 1s so, they could be very good but, it's a RPA 2. Different amp topologies and, it's simply great!

I don't blame anybody for not selling it. I'm still kicking myself for not buying one before they stopped making them. It also seems to be the hardest Emo amp to find on the used market.

The only valid reason I can think of for selling a RPA-2 is if you became totally tone deaf. The RPA-2 amp is a music lover's "wet dream". Listening to good music via the RSP-2 thru the RPA-2 powering a pair of ERT-8.3 speakers is an ultimate listening experience. I thought they were slightly more refined than listening to the same setup having the XPA-1 powering the speakers. When listening with the XPA-1 in the path I found it easier to disengage myself from the listening session than when the RPA-2 was powering the speakers. I have not heard the UPA-1 enough to make any judgment as to how it compares to the XPA-1 or the RPA-2. I was very disappointed when Emotiva retired the RSP/RPA pair.

I've always wondered why they stopped making them. I understand that they had a lot of different products in the works, including new class H replacements, but it seems like they would have kept the RPA around for a little longer. I love the idea of having two different types of amp classes to choose from. I know I probably would have bought an RPA over the XPA had they been available. Oh well, sorry to get off topic.
