The last I heard anything on when it was coming was during Emofest; and, at that time, the XSP-1 was just a concept. The "guess" on introducing the unit was sometime during the first quarter of 2010. Whether they still have it queued for release within that time frame is any body's guess.
At Christmas time, Emotiva said that they a number of surprises in store for us during first quarter of 2010, but they did not reveal any details which goodies are in the pipe line. Just because I am so anxious to see the XSP-1 shipped, I am thinking that it will be one of those little surprises released in the next couple of months. ;D
Has anyone else heard anything more?

So, is there any news about the XSP-1?? It would go great with my XPA-2 and then I could retire my Adcom GTP-500.
Best Regards, Stan

There hasn't been any rumblings on the XSP-1 front but I would guess no sooner than late summer, though as Roadrunner had mentioned Emotiva said they have lots of surprises for this year so your guess is as good as mine. I do however think the subs will debuting soon.

Hello LC, Thanks for the information. I'll just limp along with my Adcom for another 6 months or so.
Best Regards, Stan

I wonder if it's going to be fully balanced from top to bottom to pair nicely with the XPA-1... Of course, if you keep taking that concept to its logical conclusion, wouldn't that require a source that was fully balanced from top to bottom too?
Mark.

Being a balanced pre-amp it will actually be perfectly paired with XPA-1s. I assume this was directed at me? Well, the XPA-1 has more than just balanced inputs. It is also a fully balanced design. Half of the input signal is amplified on one side of the amp, and the other half is amplified on the other side of the amp. Then at the end of the process, the two amplified halves are compared and noise is rejected. As far I have seen so far, the XSP will have balanced outputs, but no discussion about whether the internals will be balanced as well. A similar discussion is going on about the XMC-1 here: emotivalounge.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=preamps&action=display&thread=10705Mark.

I believe that the XSP-1 will be a fully balanced, 2-channel analog preamp. Lonnie mentioned somewhere along the line that the XSP-1 has a fully differential gain path. I'm just wondering where that would leave Emotiva if they were then inclined to pursue a "reference" class 2-channel preamp vs. the XSP-1.

The USP is pretty darn good already, so I'd like to see the XSP go the distance. ERC + XDA + XSP should hopefully make for an incredble signal path. I'm already wowed by the ERC + USP combination. Mark Mark, I agree. In general, there's only so far you can take a 2-channel preamp before you're just kidding yourself and others. Maybe the only step up would be a 2-channel pre/pro with some killer integrated DAC and EQ capabilities and maybe A/D @ 32-bit/384KHz for signal processing. That would be a pretty cool concept.

Hey all - I was perusing the web last night and came across this interesting piece - the Sherbourn PRE-1, located in the coming soon section of www.sherbourn.com. Is this a glimpse into the future of the XSP-1? Check out some of their other pieces - any internal shots look familiar? Maybe the XSP-1 will be here sooner than later after seeing this...
