when you're in the 10 grand a pair league, you pretty much have your choice of lots of very fine sounding speakers. They certainly won't all sound the same though, and your own personal taste and room all come into play.
A few that would certainly be on my list to audition before making a decision would be the Magnepan 3.6 or the new 3.7 at half of your budget. They are outstanding and a real audio bargain..even at 5 grand a pair.
You really have to include B&W in this group, they've been making some of the best for decades. At exactly 10 grand a pair, you have the model 803. It's a hefty tower with Three 7” Rohacell Woofs, 6” FST Kev Mid, Diamond Nautilus Tweeter.
Vandersteen is also very competitive in this price range.
Thiel's model 3.7 is another one you should listen to. It's impecably built and does produce glorious sound.
The big thing is there are lots of fine sounding speakers to be had for 10 grand, but they will not all sound the same. You have to listen and find what pleases your tastes.

Used Magnepan 3.6R $3500 and the Magnestand modification with real nice wood and the Option 2 crossover $2500. Way under $10,000 and little else for $30,000 would come close.

Going to a dealer next week to hear a pair Matt, Just to give you an idea of what they can be find for on the used market (brand new condition): @ calgary.olx.ca/anthony-gallo-acoustics-reference-3-5-speakers-iid-141149258>>> But DON'T get those as I don't know anything about the seller. And besides he's from Canada! ~ But this is just to give you an idea. And if you do like them, check at Audiogon.

I've always wanted to hear a pair of the 3.5's. They have a very modern design and IMO are quite nice.

There are quite a few good choices around $10K. Dynaudio Focus is a great speaker for under $10K. The DeVore Fidelity Silverbacks are quite nice. You can probably get the Acoustic Zen Cresendo's for around $10K these days. The Gallo 3.5's are an excellent suggestion (although I hear there is an improved version coming soon.) Unless you meant a set of surround sound speaks for $10k, which is a completely different thing...

Speakers<$10K? Spend a few $$ on listening to some in your room with your electronics, in the end you will be much better off.
Buy a few at flea markets and listen.
<$10K, I gotta set at $39.95, I'll sell ya.
Seriously, you have to narrow this down a bit and I don't mean just cost. There are SO many variables not the least is room and then electronics based on what you listen to.

I heard the Gallo 3.5s at AXPONA in Jax and they sounded fantastic through Cary solid state gear. Hard to imagine not being happy with them. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you can get used.

For $10k get yourself a pair of simple intelligently designed monitors and a pair of audiophile subs. Take the thousands saved, buy yourself a RANE DEQ 60L and buy or make some room treatments. You will most likely still have close to half of the money left over.

Well, if you have that type of money to spend and want to go with speakers whose company doesn't advertise much but instead puts its money in its product I would go with Induction Dynamics. I'm a fan of Phase Technologies but those are below your range. So... For slightly above your range I would recommend the Induction Dynamics ID1.18. www.inductiondynamics.com/products.html?id=id118For right around your price range I would recommend the Induction Dynamics ID1.15. www.inductiondynamics.com/products.html?id=id115Now, my personal preference is Phase Technology speakers (because that's about all I can afford). I recently put my speakers against a pair of B&W speakers that cost about $300 per speaker (MSRP) and, IMO, spanked them. Though B&W makes some very fine speakers, if you want to see where that extra money is going to just watch an Indy Car race. Money well spent.

Heard it second hand from a writer friend who interviewed Anthony Gallo about his new Classico series. He is always tweaking and apparently there is a newer version with on-board class D amplification on his drawing board (a 3.7 maybe?)
