Wow, if you look closely at the left speaker in the pic, it looks like some comic book drawing of some demon in flames or something lol. Very cool.

Your Salks are simply gorgeous, a true piece or ART. The wood is magnificent!
* And thank you for the correction on the Viennas, between the "Kiss" and the "Music".

Great looking Songs. What is that veneer? thanx D! but actually they are HT2-TL's in brazilian rosewood. They look pretty similar in the pictures. For those not familiar with the lines, you can tell the difference by the woofers. The HT2 are a light color and have the cap in the middle. Is that called a waveguide or what is the correct term? That is a killer veneer you have there. I have SongTowers, SongCenter and SongSurround IIs with a Crotch Mahogany veneer. Doug

yes, the HT2-TL's have the larger seas with the copper phase plugs, the W18's. an incredible amount of bass for the size.
sounds like a killer setup doug. i have asked jim to model me a smaller version of the songcenter to shoehorn into my av stand, how do you like yours?

That is a one-of-a-kind creation you have there as I doubt there would be many others with that same pattern.

The W18 is an excellent woofer, albeit a little difficult to work with as it has some very nasty resonances up around 4KHz that must be tamed due to the metal cone. But once the Xover is properly designed, they do sound pretty darn good.

It is great. I am currently using the pair of SongSurround IIs (same speaker as the SongCenter :-) ) in a 2 channel setup in my bedroom and the midrange and bass are very good for dual 5" drivers. I sometimes forget that I don't have the Mini-Vee sub hooked up. Doug

What I like most about this thread is the lack of feedback from our OP!

those are my salks - try not to drool. the only speakers i have heard that sound better than salks are the big focal utopia's - the viva's are nice but they cost $13,000 - and that's just for one speaker They almost look like a cowhide! Not my cup of tea but I find that things always look better in a home rather than in a pic. I bet they sound great!!

Well I finally decided on a set of speakers and ordered the Salk Sound HT3 with a HTC center. They are made in the US, hand built they will take about 45 days to complete. They will place my PSB Synchrony Twos L/R and Center which are very good sounding speaker the XPA-1's really woke up the PSB's. The HT3's should sound great powered by my XPA-1's now comes the waiting. ;D

Trust me, the wait can be a bit brutal but will be worth it when you unpack them. What type of veneer/finish did you go with? Doug

Have not picked out the veneer/finish yet I have to decide on my finish by Monday as not to delay the HT3’s my wife wants something to do with African Jungle décor (any ideas) that was the deal I pick the speakers she has a say in the finish. It’s going to be a long 45-60 days for me.
