Hello, I'm starting to plan out my next system. I'm still over a year a way as I'm not ready to upgrade my non-hdmi TV yet (so maybe this time next year), but I want to upgrade the audio before then in stages.
Current System -
Sources - PS/3; Motorola Cable box (Cox Cable) Receiver/Processor: DMC-1 Amp: Emotive MPS-2 - attached via XLR Speakers: Klipsch RB-35 (looking to upgrade) Sub: Elemental Designs A7s-650
What I'm thinking (generically and looking for help with products to fit the bill)
Sources | V Processor/Splitter -> Video -> TV -> Audio -> Saffire Pro 40 (or equiv) -> MPS-2 -> speakers
I basically just want the Processor/Splitter to process the Video (up-convert or whatever is needed) and send the Audio to the Saffire via ADAT (8-channel) and let it do the D/A conversion. I'll have a HTPC setup to apply parametric EQ's and delay to each channel so none of this stuff is needed in the Processor/Splitter.
Does such a Processor/Splitter exist? Nothing I've looked at has an 8-channel ADAT interface. I could let it do the D/A conversion and then send the analog to the Saffire, but then I would need 8 cables between the 2 units vs. just one (and I would also be processing the signal twice (once in the processor and again in the saffire/PC).
Options/Opinions?
Thanks, John.
