For the second time, I appear to have broken a RCA plug on my UPA-5.
I was working behind my equipment rack making some minor adjustments. I pushed my pre-pro just a little which put a small amount of tension on the interconnect. And, I do mean small!
Snap! I heard the connector on channel 5 break. I suspect it is the ground connect as the channel still seems to function.
There doesn’t appear to be a very good strain relief system on these plugs. I’ve used a pile of equipment over the years and never had this type of problem.
It sucks to have to pack-up a 80lb box to send back for such a small item!

My ips has rca jacks that you can stand on.

Just call Emo and find out if the part is consumer replaceable, and if so, would they allow you to replace the part w/o voiding your warranty. No need to cry over spilled milk. You admitted your fault already. Good luck

You admitted your fault already. Good luck I tried to get them to do this when it happened the first time, but they said no and I had to ship the whole unit back. I'll call tomorrow and see. I'm not crying over anything. Yes, it was my fault. This post was meant just as a warning to other UPA owners that the RCA connection is not very sturdy. Therefore, be careful putting stress on the plug. Other than this issue, I am overjoyed with the UPA-5 and the UPA-2 that I own. They are great sounding units.

Emotiva is going to send me parts so I can repair the UPA-5 myself.
Thanks Emotiva and Joe!

Good to hear. I would hate to send back such a heavy beast if I knew I could do the work myself. The possibility of damage in shipping is quite high with something so weighty.
