No mater what, i still want to upgrade from my XPA-1's to a pair of XPR-1's. 1. My room is hot as a oven. 2. They are bigger, and that's cool. 3. Braging rights! If the SQ is equal to the XPA and UPA range then i see no problem. Not to mention the looks of the XPR. Wow!

As far as sound quality goes, I expect the XPR amps will be very similar to Emotiva's previous batch of H power amps. Many of those who owned both the XPA and the H topology power amps felt that the H power amps were more "refined" than the other Emotiva power amps. Based on my own listening experience, I thought the H amps did a better job of reproducing "life-like" sound, particularly with the attack and decay of musical instruments.
The XPA-1 was the only power amp in Emotiva's arsonal that the H power amps did not outperform. The Lounge had very spirited discussions about how and why the the H amps were Emotiva's best sounding. The RPA-2 had reached cult status by the time it was discontinued when a key parts source went out of business. This leads me to believe the XPR Series amps will have excellent sound quality with an emphasis on ultra high power output. IIRC, the XPR-5 will have a transformer rating that is nearly three times as much as the XPA-5's.

IIRC, the XPR-5 will have a transformer rating that is nearly three times as much as the XPA-5's. Yep: 3,3 kVA for all XPR vs 1,2 kVA for XPA-1/2/5 But I presume this will only be of benefit to the very low efficiency speakers. My Jamo R909 can take 800 Watt peaks (4 ohm) but my XPA-1's never blink an eye. It takes "special" electronic sounds to get the leds moving anyway. If I had B&W 800D speakers, thèn I would buy XPR-1's! However, they do look incredibly cool....

Since Emotiva have mentioned abt the release of XPR5, they shud also give more info on it like specs, price and where it stand in performance compared to the other emo amps.. otherwise those who are looking for multi channel amp will be unsure whether to buy current offering or wait for XPR5...
All these teasers are causing too much uncertainty!

All these teasers are causing too much uncertainty! Since you know that the XPR-5 and UPA-200 are on the boat, then that means you listened to the latest PodCast. If you actually listened to the whole PodCast, Big Dan did say that the product pages for these power amplifiers will be up on the main Emotiva website shortly. If you are uncertain of which way you may want to go in purchasing a power amplifier, whether it be from Emotiva or another manufacturer, then maybe a phone call to ask your specific questions would be the fastest way to keep from being impatient. As I've always said in the past, we all have options, and if you can't wait, exercise those options if you absolutely have to have something now.

Say?, doesn't the highly regarded Arcam AVR600 receiver have class H ampliers? Hmmm,...I'll have to go back a couple years and re-read the glowing review of that AVR in Home Therater magazine...those guys couldn't say enough good things about that AVR!
