Bi-amping the XPA-5 does nothing to or for the amp. For the speaker, though, it will see more power. What that power translates to is up to the equipment and the listener.

I'm gonna have to disagree. We were having this exact same topic on avs not to long ago. Generally speaking, it will do nothing because 99.9% of people who try this are running passive crossovers for 1 and are using 1 amp instead of 2. It's in the amp section of avs.

I just can't decide if 'passive biamping' has been invented by (multichannel) amp makers or cable sellers..

Sorted. The problem was a faulty MIT Splitter
Since my last post I have purchased another XPA-5. That gives you 10 glorious channels. Bi-amping the fronts and the centre (6 channels) and using the remaining 4 for the rears.
It sounds FANTASTIC! Details on the rears are un-believable. The fronts and centre is now on a another level.
Thank you for every one that gave advice, much appreciated

I'm glad you like your bi-amped system. Pooh Pooh, I say, to those who deride passive bi-amping!

Please do not tempt me to get started on how good Vivid Audio is! The Giya's have been rated by a reviewer (Stereophile or something) as the best speaker ever. I have the K1's and the C1 center, but personally I think the B1's would be the ultimate speaker to own. It is produced in South Africa and we might get it a "tad" cheaper, and access to those available in the secondhand market

Bi-amp is good if you have active crossover on your electronics but since speaker are passive crossover it does little to nothing unless you can remove your speaker crossover and have your electronics take care of it.

I couldnt agree more....but I'm still doing it since I just happen to have two XPA-2's laying around :-)
