hello boys and girls, Uncle Solarrdadd here and i got me something in the mail. it's one of them new fangled Mini X Power Amps that all the kids are raving about. it arrived in the usual emotiva way, double boxed (if i used that method i wouldn't have had my last kid or maybe two kids double box'en an all! ) anyway, after i pulled that sucker out (back to the double box already, huh ) i opened it up and the first thing i noticed was the powercoard bag had something i've never seen in any of my other emotiva amps, FUSES...what does that mean? does it mean that they are proactive and gave us fuses for the unlikely "what if" or do they know "what if" is very likely with this amp? anybody gotten an amp other than this one lately and if so, did it include fuses in it? it is very solidly built and it is exactly as i remember it when i was at emofest and saw and heard it in person; it's a real conversation piece! well i promised you whippersnappers some box porn (rat bastards) so here it tis..... ok, here is the box shot and i know how much you chokers love a close up smooth box shot so, have at it! some of that emo swagger that they tend to throw at ya! power cord with them fuses i made mention of earlier; i've got to look into the "why" of the thing dag nabbit! and fer you fellers that needs plenty of back (damn smackers) here ya goes and there are holes fer your freak'en banana plugs ya sick bastards! and fer you knob tweaking front fellers, here ya go. now by gum, that is quite a knob on the front of that thing aint it and look at the dimple on that thing! fer you dumb asses, heres the book so you yahoos know what to do with the damn thing! fer you freaks that like it with the lights on! and you others that like it with the lights off! perhaps in the next couple of days i'll hook it up to a pair of speakers and throw the iphone to it to make sure it actually produces sound and i'll let you guys know how that went! so far, i'm loving this amp and yeah, it's heavier than i thought it would be so it's not a throw toy, it's a real piece of gear! Uncle Solarrdadd signing off....fer now! buncha hippie sick'ohs!

well, i finally got around to setting up the amp. it's at my office at work. here is a list of the gear in my office system: Emotiva Mini X amp HRT Music Streamer USB DAC 96khz/24bit Vintage Paradigm Performance Series 3se speakers w/8" woofers Audioquest USB & interconnect cables Monster RCA/mini jack cable A/B selector switch WD 500GB external USB 3.0/2.0 HD Monoprice 14/4 speaker cable (fished in-wall) here is a shot of the finished product. all of the head end gear is setup on my office desk. I have it setup so that selector A is the USB DAC and selector B is the 3/8" mini jack to directly connect devices like iOS devices, MP3 players and anything with a headphone jack to play the audio in the office. The audioquest cables are nice at 2' long each, very nice quality and build too. The USB cable is audioquest too, their Forest line at 5' it's a very nice cable. the A/B switch keeps me from having to plug and unplug things to connect to the Mini X Amp; i put a nice bit of planning into this thing. I got the speakers off of craigs. i got a 5 piece set to include the two 3se's, a center and a pair of atoms for $100 and they were in the original boxes, with the original purchase receipts and the original paradigm owners manuals and a booklet of paradigm speaker stands, accessories and other things; that was a real find. they all work perfect too. gonna use the 2 atoms and center to give to my girlfriends son. we are building him his first HT setup so once i get around to getting some other stuff to make it 5.1 and a receiver he's in business and doesn't know it's in the making either! if anyone wants to know, the Mini X has a sh!t load of power! this amp put power to those 8" woofers and had them flexing like crazy once i got that volume to almost half way and by the way that was WAY TOO LOUD! oh yeah, even then, it never broke a sweat! the amp after 2.5hrs of playing at the volume i can have at the office which was 1/4 on the dial never got warm. during the 2.5hrs i had about 1/2 hr at 1/2 power and still, it never got warm. at no point did the built in fan ever come on. i did all of this so that i could get the best out of my Hi Rez FLAC collection that i got from HD Tracks as well as my ripped CD's and iTunes library at work. i wanted the best sound for not a ton of cash. i can tell you that all of the stuff in my office gear cost me under $600 i took my time and pieced it together after doing lots of research. i went with emotiva to power the system because i own 2 of their amps already and know that for the price to performance ratio there is no better amp. not to mention i was at emofest and demo'd the Mini X Amp in person so i knew what it could do! this amp has lots of power and it's incredibly well made. at my office it looks like a real high end piece of gear (and it is). I got what i wanted and more in all of this gear but the main pieces really shine through, the USB DAC, the speakers and the Hi Rez FLAC all because of the Emotiva Mini X Amp! ;D the folks at the office on my floor are either going to love me or hate me; I think it's gonna be a little of both!

I took to the mini-X right away and ordered 2 of them... one is under the bed hooked to a Squeezebox-3 with auto on... sweet.
The other drives a pair of Bose 101 speakers in the kitchen off the UMC mix outputs so we dont miss anything while getting drinks and food during a party...
I am about to recable the whole shebang into a tower of emo power...seriously a tower of power...with at least 8 different emo models in situ!!! me a fanboy.....nah...not much

I'm going to eventually get one of these too. They look so badass and compact. I can see this one being a great seller for years.

Hi all,
I am Muralidharan from Chennai India. I have ordered and received a mini a 100 amp at my friends place at Pennsylvania, who will bring it to me during March end. Presently am using a Marantz PM6003 amp with Mordaunt Short Aviano-2 BS Speakers, my source is a Marantz CDP CD 5003. I intend to upgrade to a tube Pre, by replacing the Marantz. can someone give a listening impressions and sound signature of this mini amp. Also the softcopy of the manual says the rated power is 50w @ 8 ohm, but the website claims 60w. Can someone clarify.
with regards,
N.Muralidharan

What A/B selector switch are you using?

Like all Emotiva power amps, the Mini X is totally neutral. It will not color the sound in any way. Hook it up once you get it and enjoy good clean power. It sounds just like the other Emotiva amps -- just smaller and cuter.
