I already use foobar with WASAPI for my music listening. It's a great player. I don't know how to activate it on itunes? The itunes usage is out of necessity and cannot be switched unfortunately.

If you want to save $5, try the free version of Audirvana. The payed version has quite a few more bells & whistles, but the free one is a bit-perfect memory player as well. For the payed version, Audirvana Plus, go to www.audirvana.com/Then you also have Amarra, Pure Music, Decibel, etc. All of them bit-perfect commercial software. Cheers,

If you guys want bit perfect and all the great streaming zone stuff that Apple offers (realize you can only send one audio stream at a time per player/interface guys) then please checkout Vortexbox. It's a Linux distro preconfigured with Slim/Squeeze software. Now you say, "I don't want to buy a Squeezebox", well then dude... have you heard of "squeezeslave" !?! It's a driver that will turn any PC audio device into a Squeezebox meaning a streaming endpoint/renderer for Squeeze server or what ever they are calling it now. Man they keep changing the name of the server ehh! Then if you want ipad/ipod control checkout ipeng. IMHO it's a much much better solution than what apple is offering. vortexbox.org/ ← the server penguinlovesmusic.de/ ← the ipad or iphone remote wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/SqueezeSlave#Squeezeslave_1.2-311_.28Windows.29 ← the audio driver to make any PC audio device a Squeezebox squeezeslave.googlecode.com ← the google code repository of Ralphy's most excellent driver forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=93607 ← the support forum where Raph Irving helps people. Please donate to this most assume dude! Also in windows Squeezeslave supports WASAPI exclusive mode! What you do is buy the cheapest Asus soundcard with SP/DIF or buy a Kingwa USB to SP/DIF "Digital Interface" for $150. You then have SP/DIF into you're AVR/Pre/Pro and it acts as a second sound card on the PC if it's in your rack being used as HTPC and main audio output for video etc is HDMI.

OK so you have audio covered right... but what about XBMC etc for video ehh! and all that python plug nirvana... well... forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?p=1012231! wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Add-on:XSqueezeIt's new and dude is working on it but man... that's the final piece in the puzzle ehh for XBMC for total integration with the tech I generally use. I guess you need PVR integration as well but hey that's also doable. Not so much in NA as in Europe though. I've seen amazing XBMC setups with full live TV/PVR using DVB-S tuners and CAMs. Add in the the squeezebox functionality and you have the perfect solution! PS also checkout Openelec

Solidstate,
With a good offer of both bitperfect players and DLNA servers for Mac (and windows), why complicate?
It's not that I don't like vortexbox server or anything (I even have one) but, for what people want here at the topic, i.e., bitperfect reproduction into the XDA-1, why not use the simple solution?
Cheers,

Just to let anyone listening know... XBMC Eden 11 has Airplay support for audio! The video protocol/API hasn't been reverse engineered yet IE encryption hacked/cracked.
PS I wonder if Apple would ever have the balls to go after the XBMC team and other opensource people who reverse engineered Airplay audio...
