I see the new UPA-200 stereo amp is on the main site. Does anyone know what the difference is between it and the stellar UPA-2 that it replaces?

Looks identical for the most part, except this one has fans. 29db gain. I suppose that's why the gain controls are gone. A little more power into 4 ohms?

Lower gain, 29 instead of 32. Removed the adjustable gain control. Slightly larger transformer, slightly more 4 ohm output. SNR is worse at low wattage. 6lb lighter, I'm assuming due to the use of fans instead of larger heatsinks.

Well, the amp board is completely different. The UPA-2 used two X-series amp blades. This has one. Looks like 8 output channels (4 per side) on the board; not sure how many were on the old one.

So this new UPA-200 is not superior to UPA-2?

One difference is that the UPA-200 status LEDs are fully dimmable!

From the manual of the UPA-2. They're manuals have been notoriously wrong, so it's possible that it's the wrong information.

The old UPA-2 looks heavier because of the massive heatsink but the new UPA-200 the heatsink are smaller due to fans.

The real-world difference between 185 watts and 200 watts is meaningless. I don't really care abou thte power, I was just wondering what's different. Steihl11 and Entity nailed it, thanks.

SNR at 1 watt is lower. 80 vs 93 for the UPA-2.

Maybe the question we all have in mind, is it more refined or more resolution than UPA-2?
