Well, I was about one week away from pulling the trigger on a new pair of UPA-1's until I realized they are no longer offered. After scanning the forums for an explanation, I found Dan's response saying there would be an upgraded model released "very soon". As of current, I see that Dan has said to not even "think" about the replacement until Q1 2013. I could just wait to purchase the new amplifier in Q1 next year however with Emotiva's notoriously long new product release times, I am unsure of how long it will REALLY be before I can replace my current amplifier. Does anyone know of a good alternative with similar specs? I want to stay with Emotiva as i already own an XPA-3 but the thought of waiting a year or more for the new unit is, well... kinda ridiculous. I'm sure that $$$ played a part in this decision but if the new unit was still so far away, why not manufacture another batch of UPA-1's?

There is always the used UPA-1 market, just keep checking the "Emporium". If you aren't dead set on mono-blocks, the XPA-2 is an easy choice.

It would seem that you are running a 5.xx system. Why not just get the XPA-2 (300 wpc)? Unless there is a specific feature of the UPA-1s that intrigues you. But I don't think that you would lose any fidelity using an XPA-2. Otherwise, as LC suggests, if you must stay with Emotiva, turn to the used market. BTW, the XPR-2 should be at the docks by now. Give it another month and your power options should be limitless ;D

Try asking for any "B stock" items, you might find yourself a bargain there.
