It's up on the Emotiva site, but to me it doesn't seem to be $100 better than the UPA-1 that was $349.

I seem to remember it being said that the UPA-1 was loosing money for emo. After all it should have been sold as an XPA. It sure would have been nice to get a couple at that price.

pics up, no transformer size but nice to see damping factor indicated though. a pair wud cost more than XPA2.. things are not so clear cut now for those looking at a stereo pair. for centre users like me then its either this or wait for the XPA1-L or should I hunt for a used UPA1.. hmmm..
If both the UPA1 & XPA100 is available, which would u choose?

The UPA THD rose significantly into the 4 ohm range when all their other amps stay pretty much level at 4 ohms. Not sure if you could hear it, but some wondered about it with 4 ohm speakers. Hopefully the XPA-100 would have better numbers.

Why does the XPA-100 have a 32db gain when the XPA-200 has a 29db gain?

The pictures on the web site also show updated speaker terminals along with new RCA inputs. They look like the other XPA amps on the back.

After all it should have been sold as an XPA. It sure would have been nice to get a couple at that price. It is my belief that the pricing of these new amps (XPA-100 & XPA-200) is more accurate than the old UPA series pricing. In addition, direct labor and direct materials usually increase in price over time, rather than decrease. Along with the upgrades, I think these reasons can justify the price increase. Here's is an excerpt regarding the old Ultra series taken from Big Dan's post in April 2012: The problem with the old models was not quality or reliability.... they were just too expensive to build and too much like X series. We couldn't continue losing money on them. In hindsight, the UPA-1 (and its brothers) probably should have been priced higher. These amps were a steal back then. The XPA-100 does provide known upgrades at this time, including a wattage boost, upgraded RCA connector, upgraded binding posts, a "beefed up" power supply, and a metal toggle for bal/unbal. I also expect some of the technical specs to change on Monday, which should (hopefully) bring it more in line with the old UPA-1. I will reserve final judgement until Emotiva can update the specs.

Why does the XPA-100 have a 32db gain when the XPA-200 has a 29db gain? I noticed that, too. I don't see the point of having one amp 29 dB and the other amp 32 dB. My opinion is that it's a typo, but we'll find out soon.

Over the past few years I have noticed that Emotiva typically does a lot of cut and paste from existing product pages when putting new product pages on their web site; and, it is easy to overlook some of the differences between the old product and the newly released product. I have sent PMs to Emotiva when I spot this type of anomaly to allow them the opportunity to fix any proof reading errors. I know I would appreciate this sort of "heads-up" to avoid the embarrassment. I have always found it harder to proof read my own work.
