Need opinions on doing the subcrawl with a sound meter spl in hand instead of using your ear during test tones. Putting the sub in the spot that registered highest. Your thoughts please.

It would be a good idea to use an SPL meter to measure various spots in your room for placement of your sub.

I would like to have instructions on how to do the subcrawl test. I do have a sound SPL meter.

Its pretty basic - place the sub where your butt would normally be then crawl around while bass heavy music or a movie is playing and listen carefully for the best bass response. Put your head down at the level of the sub when its sitting on the floor. Remove your chair and set the sub on the floor. Thats all there is to it. Best placement will usually be near a corner.
