Anyone have a guess on price? I'm leaning towards waiting for the XLR and volume dial... Do we know it there will be any other advantages over the 200?
In the EmoFest report you'll see the projected price was $999, and that the XLR outputs and (possible) volume knob are all that's reported. Sometime back there was another UMC-500 thread discussing the differences between it and the XMC-1, here's a comparison I came up with, it was written to 'justify' the $500 price difference and is not official:
So going from $1000 UMC-500 to $1500 XMC-1 you get:
- X Series build quality, metalwork, Tiffany's, components (point XMC)
- Balanced 7.2 XLR on XMC vs Single Ended 7.1 XLR on 500 (point XMC)
- TaCT on the XMC vs EmoQ 2 on 500 (expected point XMC, both unproven)
- Bluetooth on 500 (point UMC-500l) note: Extra cost?
- 7 HDMI XMC vs 7 HDMI 500 - and same circuitry (a draw)
- Bigger OLED Display on XMC (point XMC)
- AES/EBU on XMC (point XMC)
- TI chipset XMC vs Cirrus on 500 (probably point XMC)
- USB stick firmware update on XMC vs PC / USB cable on 500 (point XMC)
- Reference quality Analog input (XLR & RCA) on XMC (point XMC)
- Network IP control & setup on XMC (can I give this 50 XMC points ;~)
- Streaming network audio on XMC - details unknown? (point XMC)
- USB Audio/Driver on XMC vs maybe USB Audio/Driver on 500 (unknown, possible draw)
- "Flexible & Expandable Platform" on XMC (unproven, possible XMC point)
- 3 digital in (TOSLink & coax) on XMC vs 2 digital in on 500 (point XMC)
- Digital Out (TOSLink & coax) on XMC (point XMC)
- True analog "Tape Loop" on XMC (point XMC)
- 4 (programmable?) trigger outs on XMC vs 1 trigger on 500 (point XMC)
