Just got in my UPA-200 to replace the mini-x 100 that was driving my Vienna Acoustics Waltz Grands (4ohm).
First impressions are that it definitely has the additional power I was hoping for. I have it connected through my XDA-1 and a Western Digital Media player connected to a drive of FLAC files. I haven't CRANKED it up yet, but got the XDA-1 up to a volume of 50 out of 80 and it absolutely filled the room -- about 14' by 24'. Very happy with the new purchase and don't think the XPA-200 or higher would've been necessary.
Would love to hear anyone else's impressions of the amp and what speakers they're driving with them.
Another Emotiva product added to the avatar.

I have my UPA-200 connected to xda-1 and usp-1, driving 2 F-3 Klipsch floor standing speakers. These power hungry speakers sound just fantastic, and the upa-200 drives them with a commanding authority. I love how the sound is clear and remains clear with higher volumes. I still have the upa-2 and it drives a pair of rtia-7 speakers and also the upa-2 delivers admirably. Good choice scrib74. enjoy your new amp.

how does it compare to the upa-7? the upa-200 gives the vienna's a lot more stability, not that the upa-7 didn't make them sound great. but the upa-200 is a significant difference. i think the difference at 4 ohms is only 40 watts but for whatever other reasons they sound just a little bit better.

What was purely a purchase for a defunct channel has become an incite into the wonderful sound this amp produced, I wasn't expecting to trump my Onkyo, Initial listening was done by a Squeezebox touch "wav" lossless of "The Penguin Orchestra Cafe" , some Moby, Kraftwerk and Milla, some various AF Gold releases, so this is what clean sounds like, open, spacial, didn't realize my Polk TSI 400's had this potential, it even toned down some recordings killed by bad DR which for the first time I could actually tolerate without fatigue, many thanks to the engineers and techs that pulled this off, very happy with my purchase, thank you c-eling , PS-Will be testing out vinyl today
