Although I have only had the XSP-1 a short time, these are my
Initial impressions of this unit so far. I am running a MacMini based
music server as listed in my Sig, In a 2.1 semi near field setup.
The most important aspect is the sound and this unit sounds very
Natural, not aggressive , Full but very clear. The music is engaging
without being fatiguing, Very enjoyable and pleasing.
I am very picky with volume control, I want quick precision leveling with
Exact repeatability and display, and they nailed it! I could not be more
happy with this design. Speaking of control, I think the remote is
fantastic, being a Diemaker I dig the metal , the layout is simple and
well thought out. Love the trims being included, I dont usually use trims
but with the direct button I toggle them on for low level listening with a
few db boost, and off for medium to higher levels, very cool.
At this time I am not taking advantage of the balanced connections
or the phono section so I cannot comment on that, but from the packing
to design layout this is a very well thought out product that seems well
built , and with the Bass management and trims, very flexible. Well done
Emotiva, Yeah its not going back
Nitpicks.......Frequency marks for the Filters. So much precision with the unit and yet we kinda guessing here.
IF I was using this in a H.T. setup not being able to Completely Dim the display would be a problem for me, with my current setup the dimming
levels are great.
Hope this is helpful for some........Ray
