I have received 2 x XPA-100 a couple of days ago (I am in Brisbane - Australia). I connected the those to Bose 901 EQ and somehow shorted the speaker wire (I think I did) and blew the fuses on one of the XP, I replaced those, but now when I turn on the mono blocks I get a buz and no sound is coming through, have I damage something else or is my connection wrong somewhere? All blue lights on the XPA are one. When I reconnect as pre XPA-110 install, all is fine (I like the SDA-2 very much). Luxman 383 Bose 901 series 6 with EQ Emotiva XDA-2
Thanks to whoever can help.

I haven't worked with Bose in many years but the EQ would normally go in the tape loop. In your case you would take the outputs from the XDA-2 to the inputs of the EQ, then the EQ output to the input of the XPA-100's.
Source > XDA-2 > Bose EQ > XPA-100 > Bose Speaker
I'm not sure what you're doing with the Luxman integrated amp?

I have tried without the EQ, Source > XDA > XPA > Speakers, it works but the sound is flat and the "bass" are undefined and "crap"..

I assume with the Bose EQ that you must be using RCA cables? Be sure the switch on the back of the XPA-100 is set to unbalanced.
Wait, you're saying that the volume is about right without the EQ, but with the EQ you get almost nothing? Sounds like an EQ problem, sure you got the inputs and outputs correct on the EQ? (sorry, had to ask)

yes RCA's and the switch is set to unbalanced. I also believe it is an EQ prob, the volume is right without the EQ but I believe those speakers needs the EQ as the sound is crappy without them, I get virtually nothing and buzzing noise with the EQ. The XDA is connected to the EQ input (amp connector side) and the out's to the XPA's...

Were you using just the Luxman before? With the EQ in the tape loop? You could try going back to that just to test, switching the EQ in and out should confirm the problem.

Do you have another pair of speakers, or could you borrow a pair from someone, that you could use with the XPA-100s to ensure that the amp is functioning properly? I suspect that once you hear how great the Emotiva power amps are you will want to upgrade to better speakers to take advantage of the sound quality you could be listening to. I know many people who tiried various models of the Bose 901s, including my brother and me, and every one of them ended up replacing the Bose speakers to obtain more satisfying sound quality. The XPA-100 are very good monoblock amps that will provide you with superb sound quality with most any high quality speaker system. Enjoy your new toys.

I bought a pair of original bose 901’s in a garage sale for $40 in the gold coast...with a very old luxman amp too...so old it had 2 tape head inputs and 2 phono inputs with a 3 button fm tuner, but I digress...i donated the speakers to the bose museum in Sydney in exchange for some other bose gear (wave radio) and a deal of $1k off a bose ls5 or 8 system for my dad.
I dont miss the speakers at all.
I could be a grounding issue perhaps too...

The Luxman (an old fav for no reason apart from being extremely reliable with a good sound) is working fine with the Bose and the XDA, I plan to "retire it", hence the XPA's, I think the issue is definitely with the EQ, I will try different speaker as soon as I can find some and see if the trouble maker is the EQ. Roadrunner, what speakers would you suggest?

It shouldn't be possible to hook up a line level EQ out of phase.
