Hi,
I have a new umc-200....I was wondering specifically what the differences are with regards to 'direct' vs 'all-stereo'.....one BD i have been testing has an LPCM5.1 multipcm track...i was wondering which mode just feeds to each channel directly?...'direct'?....does either one side-step the channel levels and/or eq?
Related to this, the umc-200 keeps reverting to 'all-stereo' if i feed it a mutlipcm ...even if i specify 'direct' in settings/playback menu....it will let me play it as 'direct' initially, but if i were to toggle through various audio tracks on BD, once i roll back to LPCM5.1 the umc-200 reassigns 'all-stereo'.
Thx & rgds, Andy

You're already onto it, and as confusing as the answers sounds, BOTH modes feed each channel discretely.
"Direct" keeps each channel discrete, but bypasses all post processing except bass management (for digital inputs). "All Stereo" (which is the default setting for Mch-PCM, unless reassigned) also keeps each channel discreet, but applies post processing such as EQ (room correction) as well as bass management.
Hope this helps.....

Ok, thx for the help / info....so if you haven't run room correction, and all else is flat, then 'direct' = 'all stereo', correct?....maybe this is why my initial setting of 'multipcm --> Direct' in the settings/playback section doesn't 'save'? (i haven't run room correction and all else is flat, i have only setup bass mgmnt & levels so far)
thx, Andy
