I like the position of the power supply. Does the panel flip down to show it off?

I like the position of the power supply. Does the panel flip down to show it off? The position is exactly the same as in first generation. But this new feature of flip down front panel could be very interesting to hide money in a secret compartment, not a thief will think to go with a 73 lbs amp. But for the hinges options, you must order the "safe" model. Warning; if you drive hard your "safe" amp could cause fire to your money...

Not only are the amps stunning on the outside, the thoughtful layout of the inside components that is clutter-free is reminiscent of another great technology company known for its aesthetics. Thus: 'The insides of Emotiva amps are better than the outsides of many competitors!' (just my personal opinion).
The only suggestion I would make is to provide depressions on the sides to allow one to easily grasp/grip and lift the amp.

Good to see that the Tiffany style RCA inputs were added for those that have been hard on connecting cables and I do like the new "Balanced"/"Unbalanced" switch. The new trim pieces are quite a nice refresh to the last style.

There isn't any more power in the Gen 2 amps. How can previously neutral sounding amps be improved upon in such a way that you can hear a difference without coloring the sound?

Hehe... well that's a good question. The answer is that they are absolutely not able to be improved on ...... until they are!

We'll be making the Classic silver trim pieces available at no charge to those customers that need them to match their other gear. BTW, we made a lot of improvements, not just some! 29db is a bummer if you have a lot of the older XPA/UPA range amps as the gain for the older kit is 32db. especially if you are bi/tri amping. I am using 2 XPA's and 2 UPA-2's as part of 6 channels for 3way active speakers....now if one needs replacing then I have to replace all 6 channels -admittedly my situation is quite different to most, but I bet I'm not the only one to have an issue. I wonder if you will be making the black trims available for all the pre Gen2 gear to make it match...$20 a pair is a bit steep for some of the gear to go black. What about the buttons will they also be available for those that want them? Some of mine are deteriorating and not shiny anymore...wish they had been black in the first place. Also does the lamps off kill the blue power led too? I have yet to mod my XPA-1,s but the others are done.

Hopefully Emo will offer the new black trim for all RU sizes past and present.

Might be someof us here willing to trade our silver trim for some of the new black trim. Of course if Dan is willing to give the classic trim to those who need them, I bet the black ones would sell easily too.

Personally, what I want is black trim for use on the older components - the new XPAs look NICE judging by the picture. Perfect match with my Oppo, Archetype stand, old Nak deck, etc.

Emotiva should have gone with PMC if they really wanted to show off what their AMPs can do, in my opinion B&W is too overrated and needs driven at way high volumes to come alive.

The choice to go with Bowers & Wilkins (no longer referred to as B&W) was a simple one. While PMC makes a great product, no doubt, the odds of a listener having personal experience with a PMC product over that of a Bowers & Wilkins one is slim to none. Therefore we went with a speaker that stood the greatest chance of being relate-able by the average listener. With Bowers & Wilkins being sold in a lot of Magnolia/Best Buy stores the move to use their speakers seemed like a no brainer. My hope is that for Emofest however we have a bunch of different speakers on hand to give folks a true test .

Will the new look be progressively applied to all the other remaining XPA models, including the XPA-200?

My hope is that for Emofest however we have a bunch of different speakers on hand to give folks a true test . I guess the key phrase here is "relate-able by the average listener" and in a way, I do understand why you would aim at a certain target audience but in my experience (limited of course, having only been to about 20 hi-end shows around Europe in the past seven years or so ) is that at a certain level of component grade (say the XPA-1 or XPR-1) it is all about synergy and what brings out the best out of the component being demoed, and if that means one gets to listen to a speaker they never heard before, that is itself an experience to enjoy. On the other hand, if I came across a demo room with two Bowers and Wilkins 801Ds speakers struggling to dance either because the room is too small or because they are being driven at too low a volume, I would not hesitate to move-on. And you are right about Emofest - this will be overflowing with Emotiva lounge members who wouldn't like to be known as "average listners"

Most folks on these forums are enthusiasts to a certain degree.
Anyway, I think the 804 diamond was a good choice. Bowers & Wilkins is the biggest high end brand by far.
They could have picked other brands such as Revel and Kef etc., but it really wouldn't have mattered.

Soon, Emotiva won't have to make a choice! Hopefully, Bob Carver will come up with some of his great speaker designs and I would hope that Emotiva displays these at shows. B&W is both un-American and boring!

Anybody know if the Gen 2 has the really smooth high end that Gen 1 had? I'm ready to purchase but if the Gen 2 is bright or forward, I would have to return it.
