Obviously, monoblock amps have terrific stereo separation - you are limited by the crosstalk of your preamp. I would think that a speaker upgrade would be more beneficial, the XPA-5 is a pretty darn good amp...
I have owned the UPA-1's which are terrific amps but as far as what you are looking for I'm hard pressed to say you will notice a difference with mono's, I would say look for some used UPA-1's and try it out which will save you some coin or like others have said put the money somewhere else, XPA-2 and XPA-100's would cost you the same and I doubt you would hear any difference between the two, but our rooms and our ears are all different so only you would be able to tell.
We won't get into whether you neeeeed two more channels, you want them. Fine. Can you afford two more channels now, or are you planning ahead?
Two XPA-100s will cost $1.00 less than the legendary XPA-2. Could you hear a difference in the separation of channels between the two? The specs say no. Your XPA-5 has a gain of 32db. Currently so do the XPA-100s. Unless you buy a used XPA-2 you'd have miss matched gains with it. The XPA-2 has more output devices, hence a lower output impedance. This usually results in better control of the speakers. On the other hand if you locate the XPA-100s right at the speakers you can run ultra short speaker cables, resulting in the maximum amount of control the XPA-100s are capable of.
So no recommendations from me. You asked, so I thought I would muse a minute.
Hi Chad. I see that we were typing at the same time again. Yes, UPA-1 would be a good choice too. Mine controls my 15 inch sub-woofer magnificently.

I'm in a similar situation, XPA-5 working just fine but I need another 2 channels of power amplification for Zone 2 (so I can retire an old AVR) and maybe for 7.1 in the future. I'm looking at a pair of XPA-1L's for the stereo pair (FL & FR) and thus freeing up 2 channels of the XPA-5 for Zone 2. Up until recently I've had Class A amps somewhere in the system and I miss that sound. The XPA-1L's fulfil that requirement. The alternative is a pair of power speakers for Zone 2, Airmotives or Stealths. That enables me to remove the old AVR, but doesn't solve the Class A want plus it leaves me with 2 perfectly good DIY speakers not being used. Decisions, decisions.
