Honestly, I started this thread just to stir the pot. Call me a rabble rouser....lol.
To my recollection, the XPA-1L was a project of Mr. Lonnie Vaughn. Designing an amp is one thing; designing an amp and putting your name on it is another. The latter is making a statement to the audio world saying this is my best work, this is the best I could do. It's like an artist who signs their finished painting. For ATI's Mr. Morris Kessler, his signature series amp is his painting per say, so he endorsed the product with his signature to make a statement.
I think Emotiva has enough line of products for now. Even though their are audiophiles in the world who consider Emotiva as second rate, I'm proud to own Emotiva products, signature or not.
If Emotiva in the future ever came out with a signature product, sure, I would seriously consider it.

The signature series here has the name ' Emotiva " on it!
No more need be said!
Peace,
Nick

Isn't the Ferrari named after his creator? Isn't the Porche named after his creator? Isn't Lamborghini named after his creator? I have a 400 horse power Mustang but it is sure not the same as a 400 horse power Porche. Is it? Emotiva isn't named after Dan, and it's not named after Lonnie. I'm not quite sure what your comment has to do with mine? As much as I like Lonnie's amps, if he made a "Lonnie" amp, and charged $10k for it because it had his name on it, I couldn't afford it. Now, if he made a $250 clock. I'm all over it! Well, isn't the amp in question named after his creator?...

This discussion seems to be about semantics more than whether Lonnie should create a no-holds-barred amp.

I agree. I would like a no holds barred amp. Price it at 5-10 K so he will have his pick of parts, build quality without being shackled by economics. Go for it I say! While he's at it....I wouldn't mind a no-holds barred DAC, pre-amp, transport, and speakers. Then sign the everloving crap out of it.

Although Emotiva does not have "signature series" per say, a new amp mentioned and displayed at Emofest 2013 was the Professional Studio Amplifier, the HDR-200. It was said that the HDR-200 would debut in 2014, and I believe the HDR-200 is a 2-channel amp, maybe 250 X 2 ?
Nothing more has been said about the HDR-200 Professional Studio Amp since Emofest. I've got my eye on it. I kinda like the Emo Pro studio gear.
I'm waiting to hear more details on the HDR-200 to make a potential decision toward purchase in the future. Maybe fully balanced? Maybe a dual mono design?
My best guess on what HDR stands for is "High Definition Reference" ? As said, I've still got my eye on the HDR-200 Professional Studio 2-channel amplifier, so looking forward to it, 2014.

Is the XPA-1L in the same league as the AT6000 in your opinion? Trying to decide between three XPA-1Ls or an ATI AT6003. Found a "steal" on a demo model of the AT6003 for $3,350 (plus shipping of course). Obviously, that is still a lot more than three XPA-1Ls would cost right now, but narrows the price differential somewhat. I currently own ATI's AT1500 series, which have been bulletproof and is why I am tempted to stay with ATI. I am definitely open minded to change though, so let me know what you think! AT6000 specs (far left): www.ati-amp.com/manuals/ATIpowerampspecs.pdfAT6000 announcement: www.ati-amp.com/AT6000.phpFrom what I have heard ATI have a wholesaler and a retailers, so their price includes at least 3 levels of margin. Whereas Emotiva has only one level of margin, theirs. So a selling price comparison is not an accurate measure of the quality of the item, its engineering or the components used in its manufacture. My opinion, buy 3 XPA-1's and you will be in front on both performance and cost even compared to a 2nd hand AT6003. Cheers Gary

If I were to build what I would consider my ultimate expression of an amp it would be a dual chassis unit. One chassis for the power supply, the other for the amplifiers themselves. The power supply would be so over built that it would be impossible to suck it dry. The audio stages would have quad differential fully balanced input stages with cross linked current sources. Dual Darlington VAS stages, auto biasing and variable Class A drive. The main outputs stages would also be so overbuilt that the damping factor would be some ridiculous, no, lets make that ludicrously high level. Oh and I would add Analog Meters on it.
Now that would be a statement piece, but I would let the amp speak for itself, it doesn't need my signature on it. I have signed a few pieces over the years because people have asked me to and I'm very flattered, but I personally don't feel it adds any value to the gear.

I guess the real question is, would you guys be willing to pay 3K for a mono-block?

There wouldn't be any doubt about who designed that... Don't build it or else I'll have to buy it and my bank account will hate you.

I guess the real question is, would you guys be willing to pay 3K for a mono-block? Lonnie Dual Chassis and Quad Differential? Of course!! But, it won't hurt if you offer an early bird special for 5k for both. Actually, I was quietly hoping myself that somewhere down the road emotiva will eventually offer a dual chassis model. That will be a statement amp!! But, please no power meter.. I'm afraid it may introduce noise.. well.. I'm kinda of guy who turns of all LEDs if possible. But, yes! I'm bagging on my knees now. I wanted a dual chassis mono for quite sometime now, but I just didn't have a deep pocket yet to shell out over 20k (or 300k...) So, if you can bring one to market under 6k.. yes, by all means please do it.

Well, spread the word. If there is enough interest, we will build it.
