......................... Nov 14, 2013 12:36:54 GMT -8 brubacca said: Why is everyone so worked up about this video... Yes, they use B&W speakers.. yes, they were in the system that was shown in the interview. Guess what Many, Many, Many people (not me) consider B&W to be the pinnacle of speaker companies. Abbey Road Studios most famously, possibly Skywalker Sound (Although my memory on that one is vague). .........................
Brubacca, you didn't actually expect Abbey Road Studios to use Focal speakers, did you? (Focal speakers are from France folks, now do you get it?)

I didn't find the B&W's distracting, though. I was paying attention to what Lonnie was saying. There were speakers in that video? My eyes glazed over when Lonnie started talking. It was like a prophecy spoken with the voice of an angel. His words penetrated to my very core, shaking the foundations of any illogical belief, and turned many preconceived notions into ash. When the video finished, I sat there motionless for 3 days, unable to regain consciousness from the otherworldly event I had witnessed. Today, I am a changed man. I no longer need speakers to hear music. It just happens inside of me. Oh, so you definitely picked up on the subliminal messages that Andrew cleverly disguised in that video. I can't figure out who's voice that was that kept repeating in the background "buy more Emo gear .......... buy more Emo gear .......... buy more Emo gear".

^ I'm pretty darn sure that was Keith's voice.

Yes, I too was hanging on Lonnie's every word. Saw the speakers but already was aware that Big Dan liked and had purchased them. Not a big deal to me at all...that said, I understand where DYohn is coming from and I think he makes a valid point.
Just the same, the video rocked...very much enjoyed listening to the wizard and was hitting the damn pre-order button as soon as it was over.
I am excited to hear how it sounds. I think the styling is very cool and I will admit the slot loader is not my favorite but it sure did not stop me from getting the ERC-2 but heck, I'm easy that way.
Still trying to decide on the right or left verson but after I get to talk with Chuckienut I'll get it sorted out ;-)

Tweed, I heard it has a bonus feature. If you turn it upside down, it functions as the ERC-3 L. But ejecting CD's is a little trickier though....

In my opinion the video was fine. It was a great first effort. I was able to follow it, and understand that the new ERC-3 CD Player was the product highlighted. Those of us that are interested in the subject matter got it. Some it seems got distracted.
One thing that I have noticed, while here on this forum, is there is a tendency to put everything Emotiva under the microscope. I saw the rack, the turntable, the pre amp, power amps, and yes the speakers. Never once did I question the placement of the other equipment, to me they were just props in the scene, they were not important. I'm just a regular Joe a consumer of the products they offer for sale so I wasn't concerned with the small stuff. I was just glad to hear that they were now taking pre orders for the ERC-3.
It seems to me that even when Emotiva goes out of their way to explain why they made a change, or even a correction, there is always some who will criticize. First some will complain because Emotiva didn't inform them of their intensions before hand. Then when an attempt is made to explain why something was necessary, then that comment is scrutinized like it's a clue in a homicide case. I understand why this happens. It's because Emotiva gives us such access. We even have access to the president of the company. This should not be taken for granted.
I would hate to discourage Dan, or Lonnie, or Keith, or Andrew, from chiming in on subjects they feel the need to speak on. I think it's important to remember that Emotiva is not trying to cure cancer. They are just trying to help someone like me, who otherwise could not afford it, to have the opportunity to purchase some good quality audio/video equipment at a reasonable price. This they do very well.
To me Emotiva is like a good friend. They, just like me, are not perfect. All they have to do is do there best.

However, as much as some members might want to acknowledge or ignore it, there are a good community of knowledgeable and experience members here and every criticism(good or bad) should be taken into consideration. I like to call it "listen to your customers."

Quick off topic comment. Does the photo above remind anyone of a long lost member's avatar minus the yes? Now back to the ERC-3, one superb CD player!

Andrew,I liked the video and I hope to see more in the future.Yeah,I could have read all of that in a post or off of a product page but the video is more engaging.
What really stood out to me was the emotion Lonnie was putting out.You just can't get that in reading the same material. I was interested in seeing the new ERC-3 and hearing about it but Lonnie really sold it.And not in the way a salesman does,no,this was more honest pride and belief that this is indeed an excellent product. At least that was how it came across to me.
I knew this was a video about the ERC-3 and I was interested in what was being said so it was the dialog that I paid the most attention to,the rest was secondary.I did not find the speakers or anything else distracting and honestly I didn't spend time thinking about what to me were minor and irrelevant details.Too much over analyzing to me.
Would someone else look at it differently? Obviously yes, some would.Would someone not familiar with the Emotiva and the forum be more likely to be distracted by the speakers? Possibly, but my gut says no,it wouldn't be a big deal.I know DYohn means well but I just don't see it the same. I agree that it would have been great to have some Emotiva brand speakers in there but since they don't have that kind of product in the line at the moment I don't see the B&Ws as a big deal.

Lonnie is a great guy - very unassuming and sincere but it is obvious he knows what he is talking about. He doesn't have to do things to impress people. I find him very credible and like you say, he did a great job of selling the ERC-3.
