Thanks for the info Geebo. Sadly, I have the 93, and it struggles with a large music collection. But then, my Squeezebox still works so I am OK. When it dies, wow, I hate to think of that, I will likely convert a computer to deal with the pushing or HAVE to update the OPPO to a 103.

Thanks -- that's helpful. I should have mentioned that controlling the music through a handheld device such as an iPad Mini/iPhone is important to us since we will only have a projection screen in this room. Any specific 4TB external drives that you'd recommend? How have you connected your Oppo to maximize SQ? Analogs/RCAs to the amp, etc? Thanks again. I currently use a Seagate 4TB Backup Plus USB 3.0. The Oppo will only use USB 2.0 but 3.0 is faster when updating or adding new stuff. I tried a portable WD 2 TB unit but it would go to sleep if idle too long and the only way to get the Oppo to see it again was to turn off the Oppo and turn it back on. I tried to disable the sleep mode with WD utilities but that didn't work. I have also used Toshiba 2 and 3 TB units with good results. Drives with their own power supply seem to work best. With drives larger than 2TB you will have to reformat them using GPT as opposed to the older Master Boot Record method for the Oppo to recognize the full capacity of the drive. 2TB and less work either way. I have the Oppo connected to my system in a variety of ways. Via HDMI to my UMC-1, Coax to my XDA-2, and analog out to my XSP-1. I use all three methods depending on what I'm listening to. I'm thinking 2TB is sufficient at this point. Is there a specific 2TB drive with external power source that you'd recommend? I looked at some of the Toshibas and the 2TB seem to be portable/no ext power source. You seem to suggest that those are slower and may have other issues (e.g. remaining on/active such as the WD). Thanks.

Thanks. The portable one was fast enough. It's just the sleep thing that bugged me. The funny thing is that it worked fine with my BDP-93 and was very convenient. I contacted Oppo and they recommended trying a powered hub or quick-on mode, neither of which worked. The Toshiba 2TB worked great and I'd still be using it if it hadn't gotten too small for my needs. My son is currently using it with his 103. I'm sure WD will work fine as well like pop uses and my Seagate works great too. This is the Toshiba 2TB I used: www.bestbuy.com/site/toshiba-canvio-2tb-external-usb-3-0-hard-drive-black/1304481748.p?id=mp1304481748&skuId=1304481748&st=canvio%202tb&cp=1&lp=1#tab=buyingOptions

For any of you Steely Dan/Donald Fagen fans....
HDtracks has all 4 of Donald Fagen's solo albums (Nightfly, Kamakiriad, Morph the Cat, and Sunken Condos), plus an additional "disc" of demos and live tracks (same as the extras disc from the Nightfly Trilogy box set) bundled together for $48.
Some of it is 48/24 (Nightfly), some 96/24 (Kamakiriad, Morph), some 88.2/24 (Sunken Condos), and the extras disc is 44.1/24. The site has them all listed as 96/24 though.
It's called Cheap Xmas: Donald Fagen Complete.
Cheap Xmas
Enjoy!!
...I don't work for HDtracks, I'm not Donald Fagen and I don't work for him either - just a fan.
