So, I spent quite a bit of time yesterday with my new 100's. I must say I am very impressed as well as very happy. They started out kind of tight. Not very open or airy. But after a few hours they started to come alive. And the POWER. I was concerned at first that they would be a sideways move from my Rotel's, but these completely blow the bridged 960BX's as far as power goes. I know on paper that shouldn't be a surprise, but the limited reviews on the 100's and lack of apparent love for them had me wondering if I should have gone with the XPA-2. Now, I am sure the "2" is everything people say it is, but the 100's are no slouch. For what I paid for these, I got them on the sale for $299 ea, they are (were) a steal of a deal. But to be honest, at current pricing, I would have gone with the XPA-2, so that may be why there seems to be little interest in this amp. That was my first choice when I started looking for a replacement amp. It was only when the 100's were on sale for $200 less that they became attractive to me. To sum up, I am very happy!

Rick Happy to hear you like your new amps. The XPA-100's are great amps, and they are very popular judging from the sales numbers. You're in good company! Enjoy, Big Dan

Reading this post about how much you're enjoying your new XPA-100's is like music to my ears. I'm still a few days away from hearing mine. The tube preamp I purchased is still on it's way from Hong Kong. Maybe one day next week I'll get my first listen. Thanks for the review. j

I have come across one negative from these amps. I WANT MORE!!! I find myself looking at the XPA-1's and asking myself "How can I justify these!" Rick

I believe the XPA-100's will be more than enough power for me. They will supply 400watts/channel for my MMG's, and 250watts/channel for my 95db efficient M-Lores.

Don't get me wrong, I am VERY happy, but I , unfortunately, never seem to be happy. That statement is probably the thing Emotiva LOVES to hear. I just can't stop messing with things. I'm driving home in a new vehicle thinking "I want to change this, remove that, add these" and such.

Hi All,
I thought this would be a good place to piggy-back a teaser for the up coming review of my XPA-100's and the new tube preamp I purchased to go with them. I'm very tempted to start the review now but I feel I might be a bit premature. I really want to take a few more days with my M-Lores in the system. Then switch over to my MMG's before I post. I will say that I received all the equipment, everything is intact, and functioning properly. The only glitch I've found so far is with the 12VDC trigger.
I have the two mono blocks, and the ERC-1 connected via the triggers. When I power on one amp, it triggers the second amp, then the ERC-1. Done this way because the ERC-1 does not have a trigger output, only the input, so it has to be last in the chain. What happens is the first amp powers up, and goes blue very fast the second amp which receives the trigger signal a second slower is still trying to clear red. The extra second the second amp is still red triggers default in the first amp which in turn shuts everything back off.
A simple push of the first amps on switch a second time and then everything powers up and is ready to go. Changing which amp I power first might alleviate this problem. I haven't felt like going behind the rack to change it. I just push the button twice. This condition only occurs the first time on a cold start. The only other thing I'll say at this time is that I'm surprised at the sound from this combo. So far it's not quite what I expected. Early next week I'll switch to the MMG's then later in the week I'll post my review for all that's interested.

They will sound GREAT. But if you have the cash, get an e-club membership to get the 10% discout) and jump on the secret warehouse sale (you have to call emotiva and ask about the secret sale) for the XPA-1 L's. They are only slightly higher priced and honestly in a whole different level because of their fully balanced 35 watts per channel class A architecture. They are mini- XPA-1's (which used to be the flagship amp! They could be the last amps you would ever own with ANY speaker! By different level I mean two entire steps up. XPA-100 to XPA-2 to XPA-1 L's.

Everytime the subwoofer shakes the room with an LFE and/or blends seamlessly into complex music I congratulate myself on choosing an XPA-100 as a subwoofer amp. I'm sure you will be equally happy.
Cheers Gary

It was a hard decision to decide between the XPA-100's or XPA-1L's. My experience was telling me I would probably not notice any significant difference so I went with the XPA-100's. I think the XPA-100's are plenty overkill for me. I did notice a nice improvement over my XPA-5, I contribute it to the Mono block design. I simply cannot find a better sounding home theater than I have now, I have reached my Nirvana (:.

Choosing my XPA-100's was a no brainer. I got them on sale, and saved $300.00 off the regular price. I just put mine back into the rotation this week, they have been powered down all summer. I plan to leave mine connected for a while and really give them a good listen. I agree with you mine are overkill for me as well. To be honest I've never really been able to hear what they can do because I live in an apartment. Not wanting to disturb the neighbors I keep the volume set at a modest level. Besides that, I'm not interested in playing music for everybody I'm more interested in playing it for myself. I feel buying the XPA-100's was an excellent purchase, and I'm quite happy with there level of performance.
