Hey gang,
I recently discovered Spotify (which is AWESOME), but that is not what this thread is about. The reason I mention Spotify though, is that it allows me to be able to listen to a ton of music online, for free!!!
I have been using Spotify to listen to new records, I haven't yet heard, as well as old records I want to hear, but do not yet own.
Anyway, I decided to try some Diana Krall one day, and I am HOOKED!!!
Holy rusted metal Batman!!!
I have loved Norah Jones for years now, but for some reason, I had never really taken the time to track down any Diana Krall. Now that I finally have, my mind is blown. I have been listening to her full library (or at least what is available on Spotify) for days now and I cannot stop being wowed by it. Seriously, the recording quality is great, the mastering jobs seem fine, and the production vales seem to be second to none IMO.
But don't that audiophile quality sound distract you gentlemen. The musicianship on her records has me stopping in my tracks, to turn it up some more, and enjoy the sweet, sweet music. I admit, that I haven't listened to much jazz (other than Norah, but she isn't what I would consider straight up jazz, due to the strong country and pop influences), but I am LOVING these Diana Krall records.
You know how when you hear great music, and it literally makes you move? You can't help but almost feel a little "high" (like an endorphin rush or something, as I do not drink or take drugs at all), and you want to crank it up and just "feel it". You get into the groove, you move with the music, and hang on every nuance of the sounds that are coming at you. That is what these records are doing to me, and the great part is that the sounds are all very interesting to listen to. Couple great sounds with a great recording and you have a match made in heaven.
If you have not taken the time to listen to any Diana Krall record all the way through, I HIGHLY recommend it. Although, they aren't pop sounding songs with catchy hooks, they are such good songs, they will grab you anyway.
