Was wondering what folks were using as a networked music player? I was using Daphile on a PC and worked great but I needed cash so I sold it.
I've been looking at the Denon DNP-720AE, NAD 446 and Cambridge Audio Sontata NP30. I'd like to use something that can connect directly to a share drive and not use server software.
So what are the options? iPad app is important too! I loved browsing my music library with the iPenguin app for squeeze players. This will be going directly into and XDA-2 so onboard DAC is not important to me.

While not in your price range (way lower), I'm using the Mede8er 1000X3D as it pretty much play everything.

I clicked on the link... it looks like a squeeze player replacement, which is awesome. That's what Daphile was and I loved it. I look for the info on this. How do you control it, and what do you think of the sound quality? Can it do gapless playback?

I control it using an iPhone/iPad app. The sound quality is miles better than the SB Touch I used to use. Yes it supports all Logitech Server functions including gapless, cross fade and sync and it supports any hi-res file format. It runs freeware called SqueezeLite.

My PC. I guess I'm too old to be able to understand why these stand alone devices are needed.

It looks like I need another computer running squeeze server thought right? This isn't a standalone device that pulls from my networked share drives?

I use iTunes from my MacBook Pro via an Apple TV. For high resolution FLAC files, they are shared from the MacBook Pro via an app called Playback, streamed via the DNLA function of my OPPO. I also have a 64 GB flash drive with high resolution files directly attached to the USB port on the OPPO.

I use a squeezebox touch and 3.
Check out the Marantz Na7004 and Pioneer Elite n-50.
Ironically I'll be testing out a Daphile PC probably after this weekend. Will load it over the weekend on a motherboard with an optical output.

I use my Sonos Connect or JRiver on my PC, either way it goes to my DC-1.

I use a BoxeeBox and it plays just about everything I throw at it. Plays every audio and video format you throw at it! I also have a Midnight Box MX2 that I use for XBMC content other than my own files.
