The UPA-500 delivers up to 80wpc and your Polks are designed for up to 200wpc and are 91db efficient. I'd say they are a good match for a small to medium sized room if played at reference levels or below.

With your Polk speakers being 91dB efficient into an 8 Ohm load you're going to be just fine with the UPA-500's 80 Watts per channel of power output. First the 80 Watts is somewhat conservative and second, it should provide enough headroom for dynamic peaks in excess of 110dB, which is plenty loud. For the bulk of your spirited listening, say around 80-90dB you'll only be utilizing a fraction of the amp's total power. I say enjoy! If down the road you wish to upgrade your amp but not your speakers, an amp with say 150 Watts of power would be the next logical step up. But again, if you don't plan on switching out your speakers I likely wouldn't steer you towards an amp with more than 150 Watts as such an amp would likely be overkill.

It is bad for business.

I agree the UPA-500 will do you fine, I have Polk M20's and have had different Polk speakers in the past and they don't sound any different to my ears with a UPA or XPA amp and the efficiency is almost identical to my speakers and they have been easily driven with a UPA-500 in the past, I just have a audio addiction and find the need to change something every 6 months hahaha Chad

I have a UPA-500 being shipped to me now. It will be replacing an XPA-5 which I have moved to another room.
It will be interesting if I can hear any difference. I suspect not with the speakers it will be driving but we'll see.
Dave.
