That exactly what the DDRC-22DA is.
If you already have a DAC then the DDRC-22D before the input to the DAC gives you DRC(Stereo).

The novice in my name,,,,,,thanks buddy You would connect as follows: 2 channel digital source -> DDRC-22D(Dirac) -> DC-1 -> Amps All signals are digital up to the DC-1. DRC is applied to the digital signal before it is ever converted to analog. This is much better than if the DRC was applied AFTER the DAC as the signal would have to be converted to digital on the input and back to analog on the output. I think this is better than multiple conversions within the signal path If this isn't clear, let me know. |

They offer an analog an separate digital, each at 899.00 plus mic. I do both, would I need both to have better sound in my rip room?
I do have more digital inputs, in YOUR opinion,,,is it worth $1000.00 to utilize this product. That's a lot of dough ya know!!

My current 2 channel system is: PC->XDA-2->XSP-1->XPA-1Ls & 2x Rythmik F15HP subs. Everything after the XDA-2 is analog including the sub crossover. I think a unit like this will make a vast improvement! DRC doesn't need to be just for HT. Emotiva said in a older podcast that they are working on something like this. I'll wait a while before getting the MiniDSP unit. |

I have ht - stereo together.. with the ht bypass of the xsp1.. other than the pc you have Chuck I have the same path as you for 2 channel sound.. with a couple of psa xs15se sub on the way... If the XMC-1 has as good a DAC as rumored, then they XMC-1 is in fact a solution. This is the one I intend for my HT system. Bass management may be the deal breaker in a combined system with an AVR and a XSP-1. I've never used the HT by-pass in my XSP-1 and need to look at the manual. I'll come back tomorrow..... |

Let me step back a bit to discuss a few things.
I am of the opinion that even a 2 channel system benefits from having sub(s). I designed my 2 channel system from the get-go with that in mind. Knowing that I would have subs, my DIY speakers were designed with a very limited -3dB point of around 60-70Hz.
I know I may get flamed on this, but I think the LP is dead. There may have been some argument at CD quality of 44.1 16 Bit, but not at 96/24.
So, my plan was to create the best analog chain I could afford and supply its signal from a quality DAC.
My choices were the XDA-2, XSP-1 and XPA-1Ls.
The miniDSP DDRC-22D or an Emotiva equivalent will be the final addition. You must remember the DDRC-22D is a stereo solution.
I also believe that a 2 channel system will benefit from DRC in the same way a HT will. Doing DRC in the digital domain before the DAC is the best solution as there is only 1 digital to analog conversion in the entire system. It’s also immune to noise etc. being digital.
Some notes about the DDRC-22D:
The DDRC-22D up/down-samples the source to 96kHz – period!
There are only 2 source inputs, 1 Toslink, 1 Coax. Which is selectable!
Use with the XSP-1:
When HT-By-Pass is selected, the left/right/sub inputs are buffered directly to the outputs. To me this means you can setup your AVR just as you normally would with HT-By-Pass selected. Note that Bass management is disabled in HT-By-Pass.
Then with the DDRC-22D and DAC you would go into an analog input of the XSP-1 and control the sub(s) with XSP-1 bass management.
The one issue I see is using dual subs. The XSP-1 drops the signal by -3dB on the individual sub outputs when in HT-By-Pass is used. The AVR should be able to correct this.

how did it do that to my room and stuff I guess Im missing the step where you took all the measurements with the computer and sent to the ddrc22d box to make the corrections..
