I just got a UMC-200 delivered today. I was intending on setting it up in my main HT to use for a while until the XMC-1 came out (and then eventually move to my second system in my master bedroom). I am not so sure I want to set it up in the main HT to have undo all of the connections in a short while. I don't tend to watch many movies in the summer as my main HT is in a bright loft. I jumped on getting the UMC-200 due to the trade in program and the 20% discount until July 31, 2014. After trading in an XDA-2 and my UMC-1, the UMC-200 only set me back and additional $150. I am getting ready to start using REW for the first time (waiting on shipment of a USB Mic). I am thinking I will just set up the UMC-200 in my secondary system right away. What would you do?

I'm assuming this means there will be a final (shipping) version of the XMC-1 at Emotiva on the road in Chicago? I was on the fence about attending, but if it's there I'm definitely going to check it out. Yes, the XMC-1 will be front and center in Chicago!

Sweet, are you going to let Andrew share his thoughts soon? I think we're all drooling at this point for some review type feedback.

Come out here and see mine. You can help me set it up, listen and play with it all you want. Seattle versus Chicago? Now that is one huge no-brainer! PS: Besides, I'll have the XMC-1 hooked up to Emotiva speakers!

Seems networking issues was a problem before. BUY THESE ITEMS TO HAVE DECENT NETWORKING NEXT TIME! Asus RT-N66U (THAT EXACT MODEL) Then flash it with this custom Tomato USB firmware. www.4shared.com/dir/v1BuINP3/Toastman_Builds.html?locale=en#dir=DZlwxyB7It has to be this specific firmware ROM! "tomato-K26USB-NVRAM64K-1.28.0501.3MIPSR2Toastman-RT-N-VPN-NOCAT.trx" It's easy to flash with TFTP via the bootloader recovery option. THEN You need to purchase a USB (turbo stick) 4G wireless radio. "Huawei E3276" Now you need an external antenna for it that's the right frequency for your carrier. www.l-com.com/wireless-antenna?cmp=LM1I hear this antenna is great. A-LPDA-0092

I don't think the first list wouldn't have been 2010 EmoFest. I think that is the one I bought my UMC-1 at, and I had already preordered the XMC-1 by then. Maybe I have the years mixed up, but I thought I preordered in 2009. I think the first unofficial list was in 2009. I had been told by management to sign up for the XMC on a pre-order list that was being used for another product. I think it was either a DAC or the XSP. I no longer remember. A few years ago, I was notified my pre-order was ready and I reminded them that I was told to sign that list to reserve the XMC, not whatever the list was really for. They (Jessica?) told me ok, and that they would put me at the top of the official list when it was ready. I do know that right after I originally signed up for the XMC, one other person did too as he mentioned he had been told the same. It will be interesting to see if I do get a letter, as I have not kept up with the list for a couple of years.

I could feel this release a-coming. That's why I bought the Phono Amp XPS-1 Two days ago. I defiantly need to hear my vinyl records coming out of the XMC-1 Also picked up a couple XLR Cables. Wondering, which is the best interconnect for the XRC-1 to XMC=1 Toslink I want to use the digital input on the XMC-1, so I will be using the XMC-1's DAC, OP Amp Need to know if I should use the new HDMI cables . My HDMI interconnects are many years old

A-LPDA-0092 You are making it WAAYYY too complicated! For about $70 you can buy an unlocked Sierra Wireless AT&T "Elevate" 752C and get a T-Mobile pre-pay card with more than enough data to keep you going. I've done that and the 4G delivers downloads in the range of 12Mbps to 18 Mbps very reliably. Easiest way to have a back-up. It also has connections right on the front for two high gain antennae to be connected just in case there are any reception issues. All of the above available from a number of sites and although Sierra sold the product line to Netgear you can get the antennae and other accessories on line or from AT&T, as well. There is even a very easy to use app to control the hotspot that you can load on a smartphone or tablet in concert with the on-board LCD display or access through a direct connection through any PC, phone or tablet's browser. Of course, if the hotel is anything worth its salt all they need to do in advance is arrange for a wired broadband connection. Virtually any hotel with meeting rooms should be able to arrange this if you talk to them in advance. The Huawei is fine, but why mess around with a USB-connected hotspot when you can connect the PC to the Elevate via WiFi and if needed use a simple WiFi bridge to get a wired connection to the XMC. Regardless of how they do it, your way, my way or any other way, there should be no excuse for "unreliable hotel network connectivity".
