Anyone ever pair pioneer HPM100s with any emotiva gear? I am considering buying an xsp1 and xpa2 for my 2 channel set up. Anyone have experience pairing this amp/pre amp with speakers similar to pioneer hpm 100s?
I have several pair of hpm 100s and like the sound. Currently I have a vintage setup with a matching pioneer sx 1050.
Anyone know what can I expect pairing these speakers with emotiva separates?
Any comments would be appreciated.

HPM100's were a bit in the "you either love them or hate them" era in Japanese speakers. Personally in that vintage I preferred the English speakers, Tannoy, KEF, Wharfedale etc. All of which I have used successfully with Emotiva amps. If you are in the US you have the 30 days trial period, so I'd suggest using it.
Cheers Gary

I'm not sure why it matters where the watts come from? Good power amps pretty much all sound the same. They will sound the same whether that be good or bad....

Simply a matter of gain. High gain amps with very efficient speakers result in idle hiss. The 100s at 92.5 dB shouldn't be a problem but then my only issue / experience was the XPA-1s (Gen 1) on 104 dB speakers.

I am running an XPA-2 with vintage Snell Type C's. Amazing sound. They sound better than my turntable dealers 6000 dollar Tannoy's.

I've used the XPA-2 or UPA-2 - can't remember with vintage KLH bookshelves. Sounded great. I think the XSP-1 is a good choice as well. I've used it. A nicely balanced pre-amp. Slightly laidback in the treble region. Don't neglect your source - if you are a digital person I reccomend the DC-1.

I have a pair of HPM-100 ' s paired with an Emotiva RPA-1. No idle hiss whatsoever. Imo they sound excellent together.
I'm currently running it with a totally refurbished vintage Carver C-1 preamp. Did have an XSP-1 for a while and loved it as well. Unfortunately the tape loop function did not meet my needs.

I just ordered those 2 plus the cd player so we will see what happens next week . My 30 yr old denon integrated amp died. So I have my 30 yr JBL 150 A'..s and 15" sub left and plan on using the JBL crossover with the new stuff plus my dbx unit with it. I'm sure it will kick ass....just hope its real quiet. Also my old Denon cassette and Kyocera turntable...some of this old stuff is still really quite good.! Til next week................

i have a pair of Vintage Polk Audio SDA-2 speakers (with all original components in the speakers) connected to a UPA-200 and i have no problems with it. no hiss, not a sound when nothing is playing. the amp is connected directly to an Oppo 105 via RCA interconnects. the speakers are 30+ years old and they love what the UPA-200 gives them after the 105 DAC whispers it in the 200's ears!
