Is there a setting to make the blue lights dance to your music?

Is there a setting to make the blue lights dance to your music? I think you need the XPR amps for that.

Looks great! !! Can you post some pictures of the set up menu? OK... These are random shots. I think that the real point is that the structure of the menu is both powerful and deceptively simple. 5-10 minutes and you will own it. Looks sweet. I can't wait to get mine!!!!

As others have stated this so far is one of the easiest setups on a HT Pre/Pro that I have ever seen. After removing my 10? year old Onkyo 885 Pre/Pro; removing un-needed wires, general cleanup I was up and running in about 2 hours. I can still remember setting up the Onkyo and almost pulling my hair out. Terrible manual, It took several hours just getting the HMDI assigned to the proper places. After using it for a week I found out that I needed to turn the HMDI out OFF in on of the last menu's and it was only then that it started to sound like surround should. The XMC just works, clean-quite, easy to navigate menu's And the manual actually makes sense even though it is not complete. I sat back in my chair and just enjoyed my music. Then later put a movie on, I could not believe the differace between this unit and the old one, totally opens up the sound field. While I did most of the settings for the speakers, distance-levels etc.. just some minor tweaking, I have not started with the PEQ yet and may not. Anyone setting on the fence should at least give it a try it may just surprise you.

Same thing with me when I received my UMC-200 last winter. I ordered it and a mic and downloaded REW and was all excited to tweak, then I plugged it in and set distance & levels and haven't touched it since. Sounds really nice without tweaking. I'd still like to at least set the PEQ on the sub, but motivation to do it is very low since it already sounds so good.

Break out REW and do one measurement from 10hz - 400hz just to "see" what you are hearing. Could confirm you need to do nothing, or could give you some motivation to "fix" it.

The red glow you see on a Toslink output is the LASER - which is used to carry the signal. However, just like a radio station may broadcast silence, the fact that you see light doesn't prove that there's AUDIO coming out of it, although they are usually only turned on when they're active. (But, if there is NO light, then that does prove that there's NO signal.) Hmm - I thought those were powered by LED's.

Congrats on the XMC. I really wish they had kept the original design though. Now it won't match with my XPA-5. Plus I think it looked much better with the silver buttons. Oh well.

Can you please take one more for me of the top plate trim of the remote, where the IR transmitter diode is located? The reason for this; I ordered my XMC with the silver trim to fit the rest of my Emo gen 1 system and it should be nice if the silver trim of my actual UMC remote is the same design 4 bolts pattern and 1 center emitting diode as the new black trim of the XMC remote, in that case I could easily make the switch of trims. Thanks

Thanks Not sure if this provides much certainty. The face on the UMC-1 remote feels like a hair wider, though it looks like the screw pattern dimensions might be the same.

(2ch downmixed or pass through if it is 5.1 but obviously not expecting HD audio out) Not sure why it wasn't answered in your response above. Yes bootman, it does, I just hooked up both coax and optical outputs of the XMC-1 into a DC-1, and verified with the headphone outputs on the DC-1.
